Two non .com gTLDs also joined the
party, led by #6 PaydayLoans.info at $24,000 through
Sedo. That is the biggest .info sale reported so far this year and
the third biggest non .com gTLD sale. This category was also
represented by #19 Whisky.net, sold by Sedo for €8,000 ($11,040).
Sedo had a monster week, sweeping
17 of the 20 chart entries - the most ever taken by a single
venue in one week. Their winners included #5 313.com at $25,000
- one of the 14 .com domains on the Big Board.
In addition to PremoumDomains and Latonas.com,
the only other venue to break Sedo's stranglehold on the elite list
was Moniker.com
who closed the $27,500 sale of #4 OrganicCosmetics.com,
a domain they auctioned off in their live auction at DOMAINfest
Global in January.
Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the
week ending Sunday, March 14:

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
|
For
the many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research before
you buy anything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

sales helped power the ccTLDs to another outstanding week. Gold.co.uk
went for $63,916 at Sedo to lead our weekly Country Code
Top 20 Chart and take over 8th place on the ccTLD year-to-date
leader board. That was one of five 5-figure country

extension section at the top of this report.
The biggest ccTLD sale you haven't seen yet is #6
Krimi.tv, sold for $8,970 at Sedo. TheBible.co.uk
was just a step back after going for $8,512. A pair of
two-letter German .de domains; JO.de and MA.de,

sales and went on to sweep 17 of the 20 chart positions.

The non .com Global Contenders had only two five-figure sales
for the second week in a row, however one of those ranks as the
third biggest sale of the year
to date in this category. At $24,000,
PaydayLoans.info is also the biggest .info sale reported
thus far in 2010.
You saw the #2 GC sale (Whisky.net at $11,040)
in the all extension section earlier. The top GC sale you haven't
seen yet is #3 Gymnastics.net at $8,500 via Bido.com.
Next at $5,000 each are Motorcycles.info and UBM.net.
.Nets swept 13 of the 21 chart positions (the
extra spot resulted from a tie for the final spot),
followed by .org with four and .info with three. .mobi has one - #6 Build.mobi at $4,999
through the AfternicDLS. Sedo had the most chart entries with nine and the AfternicDLS piled up
