A
Pair of Six-Figure
Sales and One of the Year's 10 Biggest Non .Com gTLD Sales
Headline This Week's Aftermarket Action
Twin $100,000 sales
set the pace in the domain aftermarket this week. Sedo.comlogged one of those when their broker - Dave Evanson -
closed a deal for End.com. That sale camejust one
week after Dave's $125,000 sale of Channel.com had
given Sedo the top spot on our all extension Top 20 Domain Sales
Chart. This week Sedo shares the top spot with DomainAdvisors.com
who used the DomainNameSales.com
platform to sell eDiscovery.com in another 100K deal. The
buyer was Kroll
Inc., a global business intelligence and technology
solutions provider.
Sedo swept the next four positions with a
group that included the week's biggest country code sale, #6 Made.de
at €20,000 ($26,600). That was one of three ccTLDs claiming
places on the elite list. Sedo accounted for two of those with the
third, #15 Sienna.co.uk, changing hands for £8,000 ($12,800)
in a private sale.

The non .com gTLDs also nailed down three spots on the Big
Board. That group was led by the Key-Domains.com
sale of #7 Company.net for $25,000 - one of the year's
ten biggest sales to date
in this category. DomainAdvisors and DomainNameSales again teamed up
to put a second .net on the leader board - #20 Outfitter.net
at $10,000. The other non .com gTLD on the chart was
sandwiched between the two .nets. That was #12 (tie) Berufsunfaehigkeit.info
("disability insurance" in German) at €10,000
($13,300) via Sedo.
Sedo went on to pile up 12 of the 20 chart entries.
DomainNameSales was next, having a hand in five charted sales - two
with DomainAdvisors' domains and three with their own including #9 LifelongHealth.com
at $20,000. The AfternicDLS
also earned chart honors with #18 ChessStore.com at $11,000
- one of 14 positions filled by .coms in another dominant outing for
the world's most popular extension.
One other sales note before we move on to the chart - Box.com
was sold late last year for an undisclosed price but this week new
information came out that narrowed the figures down to
somewhere between $900,000 and just under $1 million.
Anywhere in that range would have made Box.com the 4th highest sale
reported in 2011
if we had an exact figure.
Now, here's how the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday,

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.
