Six-Figure
Sale at Sedo and Clamor for Country Codes Kept Cash Registers
Ringing This Week
Sedo.comclaimed the top spot on our all extension Top 20 Domain Sales
Chart this week with a nice six-figure sale brokered by one
their most consistent producers, Dave Evanson. They chalked
up a cool $125,000 for Channel.com. Sedo went on to
pile up eight of the 20 chart entries and played a big role in an
outstanding week for the ccTLDs.
Seven country code domains earned places on the
elite list, led by the $47,000 sale of #2 CheapVacations.ca
(Canadian ccTLD) at Frank Schilling's DomainNameSales.com.
They notched another one with #13 (tie) VacationPackages.ca
at $15,000.
Sedo rang up three of the charted ccTLD
sales with #4 Sportbekleidung.de
("sportswear" in German) leading their power
trio at $33,000. Brands-and-Jingles
was right behind with #5 Instant.ly (Libyan country code) at $32,000.
FabulousDomains.com.au
added yet another impressive sale to the ccTLD onslaught with
#10 MIA.com.au (Australian country code) at $17,400.

Two other five-figure ccTLD sales just missed taking places on the
Big Board. In the weeks 21st and 22nd highest reported sales, Sedo
sold Hack.me for $10,560 and DomainNameSales moved Longboards.co.uk
for $10,500.
DomainNamesSales had a hand in five charted sales including #3 PlatformGames.com
at $36,000. Four of the five were from their own listings
with the fifth, #17 WebContacting.com at $12,000, being
a DomainAdvisors.com
domain that was sold on the DomainNameSales platform.
The AfternicDLS
also had a big outing with four entries on the leader board, led by
#6 OnTime.com at $25,000. They also had the week's
biggest non .com gTLD sale (and the only one from that
category to make the all extension Top 20) APS.net at $15,000.
The .coms once again took the most chart positions with a
dozen, including #7 Others.com, a name that Luc Biggs
sold for $23,000 in a private transaction - a very nice
return on the $6,250 investment he made when he acquired the domain
just a week earlier!

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.
There were four more five-figure sales just
off the chart. Sedo sold Hack.me for $10,560 and Paymaster.com
for $10,000 while DomainNameSales moved Longboards.co.uk
for $10,500 and InternetAnbieter.com for $10,000.
.Com Supporting Cast
The MostWantedDomains.com
sale of YorkCarpetCleaning.com for $9,000 and a
joint DomainAdvisors/DomainNameSales sale of PhotographyCourses.com
for the same amount led the .com supporting cast of
four-figure sales.
DomainAdvisors/DomainNameSales also joined forces
to sell PrivateGym.com ($8,000) and HighriseWindows.com
($7,800). Meanwhile, from their own listings,
DomainNameSales sold WholesaleTravel.com for $8,000,
TaxWithholding.com for $6,000 and Beacause.com
for $5,000.
Back at the AfternicDLS DataViewer.com drew
$8,088, CarWars.com went for $7,612 and two
others; AdMovie.com and PinkSlime.com posted $6,500
apiece. TowelStands.com took in $6,000, SoftwarePlatform.com
produced $5,788 and Empea.com captured $5,500.
The hits just kept on coming with ActivePartners.com
($5,400), DiamondVeneer.com ($5,300), LaunchStar.com
($5,088) and BigPharma.com ($5,078). The AfternicDLS had 92 more four-figure .com sales

Country Codes
As I noted in the all extension section
above it was a banner week for the ccTLDS with nine reported
sales reaching five figures, led by #1 CheapVacations.ca at $47,000
at DomainNameSales. The highest country code sale you haven't seen
yet is #10 on our new Country Code Top 20
Sales Chart - that is Park.de, a domain that Sedo sold
for $7,600.
The AfternicDLS kicked off the second ten with a
nice .US sale. Tennis.us went for $7,500 there.
Sedo reeled in the next six chart entries with a group led by #12 Traden.de
at $7,260. MissDomain.com
finally halted the Sedo run with #17 Smal.se (Swedish ccTLD)
at $5,770.
Sedo wound up sweeping 13 of the 21 chart entries
(the extra spot resulted from a tie for the final opening). #20
(tie) Mobster.co was one that eluded Sedo's grasp. Richard
Lees sold that one for $5,000 in a private transaction.
Germany's .de easily won the extension race
with seven chart entries this week. Canada's .ca and Colombia's
.co were the only other TLDs with multiple entries as they each
took two.

If there are country code extensions in our report
that you are not familiar with, you can look up the nation each
extension goes with here.
After posting the category's biggest sale of
the year last week (CDN.net at $185,000) the non .com gTLDs had
a slow week this time out with just one reported sale - APS.net
at $15,000 via the AfternicDLS - reaching five figures. The
highest sales from this group that you haven't seen yet are tied for
#2 on our new Non .com gTLD Top 20 Chart. Those are Discover.org
and Private.org at $9,000 each, both through the
AfternicDLS who swept 11 of the 20 chart entries.
MostWantedDomains rounded out the first five
with #4 MiamiFloridaRealEstate.net at $7,500 and #5 Frasesdeamor.net
at $6,000. Sedo claimed six places on the elite list with a
group led by #6 SharedValue.org at $5,000.
The .nets won the extension race with 12
charted domains compared to 7 for the runner-up .orgs.That left one spot that was claimed by #12 Store.info,
bought by Jared Landress through NameJet
for $3,600.
