Biggest
Australian Country Code Sale Reported to Date Tops This Week's
Domain Sales Chart
The biggest Australian ccTLD
sale reported to date set the pace in the domain aftermarket
this past week. InvestmentProperty.com.au went to a new owner
for AUD 125,001 ($127,501) via NetFleet.com.au.
In addition to being a record-setting sale this one is notable
because this was a dropped domain - the previous owner lost
it because they did not pay the small renewal fee. Ouch!
Another big country code sale, Business.me
at €40,000 ($54,800) throughSedogave the ccTLDs two of the top three spots on our latest weekly
all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. Yet another, also sold be
Sedo, landed in the top 10. That was a nice two-letter German
domain, #7 LF.de at €14,000 ($19,180). Sedo's $9,750
sale of #20 Forecast.co.uk gave the country codes a
fourth entry on the elite list.
Still the .coms easily won the
overall numbers game, piling up 15 of the 20 chart entries. #2 Xueqiu.com
led the .com charge with a $100,000 sale at Sedo. GAZ.com
was one step back, tied for the #3 spot at $54,800. That was
also a Sedo sale and they went on to claim 8 of the first 10
positions and 15 of 20 overall.
By
Ron Jackson
Sedo's roster included the only non .com gTLD sale
on the Big Board, #11 Stromanbietervergleich.org
("electricity comparison" in English) at €10,115
($13,858).
The AfternicDLS
was the only other venue with multiple chart entries They hit the
trifecta with a trio led by #8 (tie) SOSG.com at $15,000.
Domainer
Nation, LLC also earned chart honors with #17 (tie) ThePod.com
at an even $10,000.

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

Country Codes
InvestmentProperty.com.au easily topped our Country
Code Top 20 Sales Chart with that huge $127,501 sale at
NetFleet.com.au. In addition to being the largest Australian ccTLD
sale reported to date, that is also the 3rd largest country code sale so
far in 2011 (the YTD ccTLD Top 100 chart is the third
chart on that page).
Three more country code domains that also earned
places on the all extension Top 20 chart you saw at the top of this
report fill the next three positions on this week's ccTLD Top 20.
The biggest sale you haven't yet seen in this category is #5 Bet365.ch
(Swiss country code) at $8,580 via Sedo. Sedo went on to
sweep 18 of the 20 chart entries. NetFleet took the two places Sedo
did not, adding #10 Snowboards.com.au at $6,007 to
their ledger.
Spain's .es extension won the TLD race,
taking five places on the elite list with a quintet headed by #7 JuegaBingo.es
at $7,398. The Netherlands' .nl was next with three
led by #6 Wpdimensie.nl at $7,535.

extension goes with here.
The non .com gTLDs had just one five-figure
sale this week - the one you saw on the all extension leader board
earlier - Stromanbietervergleich.org at $13,858 via
Sedo. With that sale leading our new Non .com gTLDTop 20 Sales Chart,
the second spot goes to the highest sale you haven't yet seen
in this category - MathGames.net at $8,500.
Sedo rang up the top six sales with
a group that also included #3 Solaranlage.org at $8,220.
They went on to claim half of the chart entries. The AfternicDLS
matched that performance by putting their name on ten sales as well.
The AfternicDLS contingent was led by #7 NetPoker.net at $3,424.
In the extension race the .nets took 11
places while the .orgs claimed 9. .Info and .biz
had one each with the extra two places resulting from a three-way
tie for the final position. Here's how all of the Non .Com gTLD leaders stacked up for the
