Quartet of Six-Figure Sales Totaling Nearly $700,000 Take Top Spots on This Week's Domain Sales Chart

I was away covering the 2018 MERGE! conference in Orlando last week so I have two weeks worth of domain sales data for you this time around the track. A surprisingly large number of high end sales came in to us since our last report, including four six-figure sales that lead our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart and 40 sales overall that reached at least five figures.

A big factor in the flood of sales was having broker Chirag Chavda provide us with a list of his top sales this year (all  previously unreported and accompanied by the required documentation). His roster earned nine places on the leader board, including the top rung on the ladder with a $223,000 sale of 015.com. All of Chavda's scores came from short .com sales including five more numeric domains, a pair of 3-letter .coms and a rare 2-character domain, #6 Z6.com at $88,000.

The #2 spot on the Big Board went to Flippa's $220,000 sale of Gab.com, a sale that was first reported by Raymond Hackney at TheDomains.com. Raymond also noted that this same domain was sold at Sedo in 2014 for $200,002 and that the buyer this time around was a growing social networking site that has been operating from Gab.ai. This is obviously a very nice upgrade for them. (*Update 10-31-18 - see note about this reported sale on the Top 20 Chart below).

By Ron Jackson

Sedo filled the #3 slot on the elite list with Mappa.com at $127,400 with the next position going to an IDN - Forbrukslån.com ("consumer loan" in Norwegian) at 1 million kroner which is $123,000 at today's exchange rate. A spokesman for the buyer, STK FINANS AS, told us they plan to launch a loan comparison platform on the domain within the next month.

Chriag Chavda rounded out the first five with another high dollar numeric domain sale, 3833.com at $90,500, helping the .coms sweep 19 of the 20 chart entries. Seven of those were 3-letter .coms including four from that category posted by LXME.com, a new sales platform that we told you about in our Lowdown section yesterday.

The only non .com domain on this week's honor roll is Sedo's $27,250 sale of #12 Qnet.org

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, September 23, 2018:

This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

The ccTLDs had no entries on the all extension leader board above but they still had a very good couple of weeks led by a half dozen five-figure sales that you saw listed just below the all extension Top 20. Sedo led the country code charge with DepotCheck.de at $19,470 and they went on to sweep every entry on our latest Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart except one. The lone exception to the Sedo rule was Uniregistry's sale of #12 Clubs.tv for $6,000

Since you saw all of the five-figure ccTLD sales above the highest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #7 Spotlight.in, a domain that Sedo sold for $8,000.

Germany's .de scored an easy win in the extension race with six chart entries. One of those was an IDN - #19 Bankgebühren,de at $3,737. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, September 23, 2018:

If there are country code extensions in our report that you are not familiar with, you can look up the nation each extension goes with here

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and others, including new gTLDs)

The non .com gTLDs were, of course, led by their sole entry on the all extension leader board you saw earlier, Sedo's $27,250 sale of Qnet.org. The next two spots on our latest Non .com gTLD Top Sales Chart went to a pair of new gTLDs - King.online at $17,250 and Transparency.online at $10,000

The first five is rounded out by the .GLOBAL Registry's $8,000 sale of #4 Leap.global and Sedo's $7,080 sale of another new gTLD, Smile.direct.

The .orgs won the extension race with five chart entries, two better than runners-up .net and .global. Here is how the non .com gTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, September 23, 2018:
