Super Sales Week Led By 5 Great Domains Totaling More Than $3.5 Million - Chart Topper Chalks Up $1.2 Million

What a difference a week makes. Last week at this time so little sales data had come in we decided to hold it and fold it into the single report you are reading now that covers the last two weeks of reported aftermarket activity. Things have a way of evening out over time but, with respect to domain sales, they went way beyond evening out as the flood gates opened over the last few days, led by a tidal wave of top dollar sales. A big chunk of those came from Name Jet and RightOfTheDot.com (ROTD) releasing sales that have now closed from their live and online auctions at the NamesCon conference in January. Their ledger produced the two blockbuster sales that lead our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart - Super.com at $1.2 million and Great.com at $900,000. Super.com also becomes the biggest sale of the year to date, as well as the highest sale in NameJet's history!

While the NameJet//ROTD auction filled 9 of the 20 slots on the leader board it wasn't the only source of eye popping sales. Starfire Holdings filled the next two slots after brokering a pair of sales that totaled $1.25 million. #3 Liquid.com poured $750,000 of that while Tokens.com tallied another $500,000. Another six-figure sale rounded out the first five. That was Sedo's $225,000 sale of Star.org which is also the biggest .org sale of the year to date.

By Ron Jackson

.Coms swept 16 of the 20 chart entries, getting another boost from the Starfire Holdings sale of #6 OSL.com at $72,000. That was one of seven 3-letter .coms on the honor roll, showing how powerful that category continues to be.

The remaining four spots were split between ccTLDs and non .com gTLDs as each filled two spots on the elite list. In addition to the Star.org sale the latter category scored with a new gTLD, Sedo's $42,000 sale of #12 Blockchain.ventures. Sedo also produced both of the country code sales that made the Big Board - #10 Nurture.co at $45,000 and #13 SuperShop.de at $37,200.

Before we go to the chart, I also want to point you to a story about a historical sale that just came to light. I usually report on those in this column but this sale of Ring.com at $1 million (completed in 2016) was so significant and had such an interesting back story I did a separate piece about it in our Lowdown section that you can read here

Now to this business at hand - here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, March 4, 2018:

Keep in mind that these are the highest value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.

Country Codes

The ccTLDs were led by Sedo's $45,000 sale of Nurture.co - a transaction that also ranks as the second biggest country code sale so far this year (behind only Music.ai at $101,500). That was one of seven five-figure ccTLD sales reported over the past two weeks. All of those were noted in the all extension section above so the highest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is Sedo's $9,610 sale of #8 SFI.nl.

Sedo rounded out the top ten with Solid.kr ($8,000) and ConnStore.de ($7,440) and went on to sweep 20 of the 21 chart entries (the extra spot resulted from a 3-way tie for the final spot). The only exception to the Sedo rule was #13 86.tv at $4,900. That sale was made in the NameJet/ROTD auction at NamesCon.

Germany's .de won the extension race with four chart entries but it was a remarkably diverse mix with 15 different extensions represented on the chart!  Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, March 4, 2018:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and others, including new gTLDs)

The Non .com GTLDs had an 800-pound gorilla of their own to celebrate this week with that $225,000 sale of Star.org at Sedo - the year's biggest .org sale to date and its 3rd biggest non .com gTLD sale. All of our YTD Top 100 Charts - All Extensions, ccTLDs and Non .com gTLDs can be viewed here. Sedo swept the first four chart entries (and 10 of 20 overall), following Star.org with two nice new gTLD sales - Blockchain.ventures ($42,000) and Berlin.club ($11,780) and another .org - Ticket.org at $9,999.

VinsDomains.com helped round out the first five with their $7,500 sale of new gTLD FindMe.online, sharing the #5 spot  with the NameJet/ROTD auction where R5.net was sold for the same price. NameJet/ROTD went on to claim five chart positions overall.

The .orgs won a close extension race, nipped in the .nets 5-4. New gTLD .online also showed well with three charted sales. Here is how the non .com gTLD leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, March 4, 2018:
