.Coms Reassert Themselves Sweeping the First 15 Entries on This Week's Domain Sales Chart

It is fairly rare for a non .com domain to take the top spot on our weekly all extension Top 20 Domain Sales Chart but it happened the last two weeks in a row (a .org domain topped the elite list two weeks ago and a Canadian ccTLD got it done last week). Apparently, the .coms have had enough of that. This week the world's most popular TLD swept the first 15 positions on the Big Board and took 18 of 20 places overall.

The .com resurgence was led by a Spanish language domain - Inmuebles.com ("estate" in Spanish) - that changed hands for $55,200 at NameJet. That venue released all of their July sales this week, helping them take the top three spots on the leader board and eight of the top ten. They filled the runner-up position with Spitfire.com at $42,800 and the #3 hole with 3171.com at $42,022

Rounding out the first five are Sedo's $35,000 sale of #4 OpenSourceCMS.com and the $28,888 sale of a four-word .com,  SaltAndPepperHome.com, at Mike Mann's DomainMarket.com. Mann said he had purchased the domain for just $20 less than five months ago, giving him a great return on his investment when an Australian maker of a line of salt and pepper pottery came calling with checkbook in hand.

The .com assault was further fueled by the sale of seven 3-letter .coms (all through NameJet) with #6 ZEV.com leading that group at $25,000

The only two non .com domains to make the chart were #16 PY.net ($14,804 at NameJet) and a new gTLD, #18 Sherpa.group at €12,000 ( $14,280) via MagnumDomains.

Country Codes

The ccTLDs had a tie at the top with Gamble.io and XM.co each changing hands for an even $10,000. Sedo handled the Gamble.io sale and NameJet rang up the XM.co sale. Sedo swept the next four positions on our latest weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart with that quartet being led by #3 GDPR.co.uk at $9,900.

MagnumDomains also had a nice run taking four of the next five chart entries with #7 Israeli.tv at $5,150 and a trio of .co domains at $4,980 each.

The extension race wound up in a dead heat between Colombia's .co and Germany's .de as each TLD took five spots on the leader board. Here is how the country code leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, July 30, 2017:
