Non .Com Takeover - a .ORG Tops This Week's Sales Chart with 4 ccTLDs & a New gTLD Also in the Top 10

It is a rare week when .coms don't dominate the top of our weekly all extension Top 20 Domain Sales Chart. This was one of those weeks with non .com domains taking six of the top ten entries (and nine chart entries overall). A .org led the charge with Rupii.com selling BitcoinCash.org for $48,888 via GoDaddy. Rupii's Christina Thorpe said the domain was hand registered earlier this year, giving her company an extraordinary return on its investment. It seems appropriate it would come from a bitcoin related domain as the popular crypto currency has also seen a phenomenal rise is value over a very short period of time.

.Coms did take three of the next four spots on the Big Board thanks to Sedo's sales of #2 Trustwork.com ($30,000), #3 SeedCompany.com ($28,000) and #5 SweetPay.com ($18,000).

The leader of a ccTLD quartet in the top ten, #4 Icon.tv, slipped into the middle of that pack. Kevin Lawrence sold that domain for $25,000 in a private transaction that also ranks among the year's 10 biggest country code sales to date. Sedo had two of those ccTLD sales with the other one going to UltraDomains.com who moved #7 Give.io for $15,800.

In addition to having the week's top sale, the non .com gTLDs put four more names on the elite list with those coming from another .org and three new gTLDs. The latter group was led by #9 Token.sale at $11,499 via Sedo. The other two were sold by the .GLOBAL Registry who moved 365.global and KBC.global for $8,000 each, putting them in a 3-way tie for #17.

The .coms still claimed the most chart entries overall as they wound up with 11 of the 20 positions. Three of those were filled by Michael Mann's DomainMarket.com with #8 ShipSupport.com at $12,000 leading their trio. Mann told us he had picked up that domain for just $70 in August of last year.
