Editor's Note:
The offices of some of our major sales data suppliers will be
closed untuil after New Year's Day and they will be unable to
send in sales reports this week as a result. So, there will be no
new sales column this week. Instead we will bring you fully up to
date with a double length column covering two weeks worth of
sales that will be out at the end of next week. Offices will be
re-opening Jan. 2-3 so we will collect sales data those days, then
publish our next column on Friday evening, January 4. That
will cover the final two weeks of the 2012 sales season.
DomainNameSales
Goes on a Tear With a Hand in EVERY ONE of This Week's
11 Biggest Domain Sales
It should be a very Merry Christmas atDomainNameSales.com
(DNS). The domain aftermarket sales platform founded by industry
legend Frank Schilling
simply shot the lights out this past week either solely or
jointly ringing up ALL of the 11 biggest sales and 16
of 20 on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart.
Two of those sales hit six figures
including #1 Line.com at $118,000 and #2 Glamorous.com,
sold by DomainAdvisors.com
on the DNS platform for $115,000. DomainNameSales posted 10
chart entries on their own, including #3 Fobo.com ($57,500),
#4 LifePrograms.com ($55,000) and #5 Zebu.com ($40,000).
DNS also helped DomainAdvisors pile up
six charted sales, including #8 BuyGoldBullion.com at
$25,400 and #9 (tie) RGP.net, the week's biggest non
.com gTLD sale, at $25,000.
By
Ron Jackson
Only Afternic
and Sedo
were able to keep DNS and DomainAdvisors from monopolizing the
charts as each of those venues put two names on the leader board.
Afternic scored with #12 (tie) PokerNight.com at $20,000
and #18 BestTime.com at $15,000. Sedo's winning pair
was #12 (tie) ULink.com at $20,000 and the week's top ccTLD
sale, #19 Matik.ch at $14,630.
The country codes and the non .com gTLDs each had two
representatives on the elite list. The second ccTLD was #20
Catalyst.ca, sold at DomainNameSales for $14,000. The
second non .com gTLD was #17 Grab.net, sold by DomainAdvisors
on the DNS platform for $17,000. The .coms swept the remaining
16 positions.

sales leaders stacked up for the

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

$14,630 sale of #1 Matik.ch leading the pack. The biggest
sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #5 on this week's

sale of InMedia.ru. #6 Register.to was right behind

board. They did it with #16 Counselling.com.au at $4,704.
