Domain
Legend Garry Chernoff Makes the Week's Two Biggest Domain Sales
Gary Chernoffhas had a lot
of good weeks in his legendary career as a domain investor and the
one just past was yet another. Garry was the seller in both
of the top two domain sales reported over the past seven days. Garry
keeps a relatively low profile, so if you are new to the
industry you may not have heard the personable Canadian's name as
much as some others that are frequently in the headlines. Suffice it
to say that Garry was Frank
Schilling'smentor - I don't know that you
can get any higher up the food chain than that.
Garry's $78,000 sale of
Ripley.com through DomainNameSales.com
(the aftermarket platform operated by his friend, Frank Schilling)
occupies the #1 position on our latest weekly all extension Top
20 Sales Chart. Garry also claimed the runner-up spot with Callisto.com,
a name that Sedo
sold for him at $69,500.
Sedo went on to record another bang up
week, sweeping 15 of the 20 chart entries, including 3 of the top 4. Their hit
list included #3 LIK.com at $65,000 and #4 Reconnect.com
at $45,000. Sedo was also responsible for all five of the ccTLDs
on the Big Board, the best of which was #7 Commodity.co, a
domain they sold for Michael
Berkens at $20,000. Sedo put another country code
domain in the top ten; #9 Flyers.co.uk at $15,900
By
Ron Jackson
The AfternicDLS
was the only other venue with multiple chart entries. They hit the
daily double with a pair of top ten sales; #6 KnockOnWood.com
at $26,088 and #10 RNP.net at $14,888. The
latter was also the highest non .com gTLD sale of the week.
Two other non .com gTLDs made the elite list; #11 (tie) Whiskies.net
at $13,900 and #16 Bruno.info at $11,815.
Both of those sales were handled by Sedo.
The .coms had their usual dominant outing, piling up a dozen
charted domains, including Red Apple LLC's sale of #5
Affiliated.com for $29,500 in a private transaction. Michael
Mann'sDomainMarket.com
also got into the act with their $11,000 sale of #19 HostingProviders.com.
Here's how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday,

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

Country Codes
Sedo scored a clean sweep in the ccTLD category
this week taking every position on our new Country
Code Top 20 Sales Chart. They have always dominated this
category and it's not the first time they have run the table, but it
is always an impressive feat. A quintet of five-figure sales, of all
which you saw in the all extension section earlier, filled the first
five spots on our the ccTLD leader board. The biggest country code
sale you haven't seen yet is #6 Stedentrips.de at
$6,950.
As they so often do, the .de domains
(Germany's popular country code) took the most chart entries with
seven, including half of the top eight sales, the last of those
being #8 Trucks4U.de at $5,213. Great Britain's .co.uk
was next with four, followed by France's .fr with three.
.TV was the only other extensions with
multiple chart entries, scoring twice with #9 (tie) CommercialBreak.tv
($5,000) and #11 Mob.tv at $4,250.

If there are country code extensions in our report
that you are not familiar with, you can look up the nation each
extension goes with here.
While the Sedo blitzkrieg swept through the
country code category the AfternicDLS was busy making hay with the non .com gTLDs.
They grabbed the top spot on this group's chart, took six of the
first ten places and wound up with eight spots overall.
Sedo also hung tough taking eight places of their
own including the highest sale you haven't yet seen in this category,
#4 ENT.net at $9,999. They also occupied the #5
position wth Acquire.net at $4,000. The AfternicDLS
answered by taking the next five in a row, led by #6 KeynoteSpeakers.org
at $3,771.
The .nets had a dominating performance,
sweeping 14 of the 20 chart positions, leaving just four places for .org
and two for .info. Here's how all of the Non .Com gTLD leaders stacked up for the
