The .coms still had the most chart
entries with 11 and the AfternicDLS
piled up five of those including #3 WEHR.com ($73,700) and #4
OnlineBanks.com ($30,000).
Only one other venue made an appearance
among the top 20 sellers this week - that was MostWantedDomains.com
who sold #12 SmokeBreak.com for an even $20,000. As most
of your know, MostWantedDomains is run by domain industry
veteran and well-known blogger Michael
Berkens.

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
|
For
the many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research before
you buy anything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

Country Codes
A big Canadian ccTLD sale that ranks among the
year's 20 biggest country code transactions (scroll down
to second chart on the linked page), leads this week's Country Code Top 20 Chart.
Coupon.ca commanded $75,600 in a sale made by ExcellentDomains.ca.
That was one of five five-figure ccTLD sales
reported this week. We showed you all of those in the all extension
section at the top of this report, along with the $9,170 sale
of MUS.es (Spain's ccTLD), so the highest country code sale
you haven't seen yet is #7 Voice.it (Italian country code), a
domain sold through Sedo for $6,550.
Sedo went on to sweep 17 of the 20 chart positions
with a roster that also included#8 Razors.co.uk at $6,160.
The only other venue with multiple chart entries was BliXem
Internet who claimed #9 with Agnes.nl (Dutch
ccTLD) at $5,670) and #13 with Pittig.be (Belgian country
code) at $3,779.
