Moniker answered with another six-figure
deal as #2 XI.com sold there for $100,930. Still
another sale just missed the six-figure mark. #3 KissingGames.com
came in at $98,000 after being acquired in a private
transaction by Slix
Media who operates a string of game portals.
The country codes continued to impress,
placing five names on the Big Board, including a pair that made the
Top 10; #6 Tracker.at ($23,220) and #10 Handwerkerfinden.de
($16,886). Sedo accounted for both of those sales and went on to
sweep 11 of the 20 chart entries. Sedo added a third ccTLD sale and BliXem
Internet also got into the country code act with a pair
of their own; Room.eu and Rooms.eu at $13,868
each.
The non .com gTLDs has two representatives
on the elite list. That category claimed the first and last position
on the leader board with MLF.org taking #20 at $9,888.
Latonas.com
joined Sedo, Moniker and BliXem with multiple chart entries. Latonas
hit the daily double with #7 UDE.com at $23,000 and
#16 SUS.com at $11,300. Also earning chart honors this
week were SuccessClick.com
with their sale of #5 TheProphet.com at $25,000 and
the AfternicDLS
where #8 DumpsterRental.com drew $20,000.

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
|
For
the many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research before
you buy anything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

Country Codes
The country code category produced a quintet
of five-figure sales this week, all oh which made the all extension
Top 20 Chart you saw earlier. Those, of course, also rank as the
five biggest sales on our new Country Code Top 20 Chart (led
by Austrian ccTLD Tracker.at at $22,320). The
biggest ccTLD sale you haven't seen yet is #6 Korsetter.se
("corsets" in Swedish), a name that sold through MissDomain.com
for $9,643.
Sedo and BliXem Internet team up to sell #7 Folders.eu
for $6,450. That gave Sedo a hand in 17 of the 20 chart
entries. Nothing new there - Sedo always dominates the ccTLD
category.
Just as Sedo is the strongest country code venue, Germany's
.de is, more often than not, the most popular extension on our
weekly chart. That was the case against this week with .de claiming
seven chart positions. The European Union's .eu was next with
five.

Global Contenders (Non .com gTLDs:
.biz, .info, .mobi, .net, .org, .asia, .pro & .tel)
The .non .com gTLD category was
dominated by one sale this week - Lottery.net for
$220,000 at Sedo. That was the only non .com gTLD to sell for more than
$10,000. That left MLF.org in the #2 spot on our Global
Contenders Top 20 Chart at $9,888,
followed by #3 LegalForms.net at $9,500 and #4 Offshore.info
at $6,451. Sedo accounted for all of those sales as well and
went on to sweep 16 of the 20 chart entries.
The AfternicDLS
was the only other venue with multiple chart entries, taking three
places, led by #8 Liberi.org at $3,500.
Sedo's list included #5 Europe.biz at $5,000.
That was one of two .biz domains on the elite list, joining #18 Antarctica.biz
($1,935). .Info also had two entries; the aforementioned
Offshore.info and #15 Bakers.info at $2,332. Both
extensions trailed the usual chart leader, .net, which won
again with 11 representatives on the chart. The .orgs were
next with five.
