GeoDomain and 8 ccTLDs Dominate This Week's Domain Sales Chart
With many people out of their offices due
to the holiday breakwe wound up one venue short of
having a full data set again this week. After being absent
last week,Sedo
has caught up by sending us two weeks worth of data that has been
incorporated in this new report. However, this week the AfternicDLS
was missing in action when our deadline arrived. So, expect two weeks
worth of sales from them next week when just about everyone will be
be back at work and would should again have the full complement of
sales venues represented.
With a double dose of data to draw from,
Sedo wound up dominating our new Top 20 Sales Chart, sweeping
the first six spots and taking 16 of 20 positions overall. A nice
geodomain, Kiev.com, set the pace at $88,000. ccTLDs
claimed the next four positions and a total of eight spots on the
Big Board.
Sedo accounted for all but one of those
country code sales with #2 BedroomFurniture.co.uk ($57,500)
and #3 Apuestas.com.es ("bets" in Spanish at $55,770)
leading their ccTLD roster. The nation of Tonga made a rare
appearance on the chart thanks to Sedo's sale of a one-letter domain,
#17 U.to at $13,000.
By
Ron Jackson
The only charted country code sale that
was not made by
Sedo was #7 Interaction.ca (Canadian ccTLD), a name
that changed hands for $28,880 in a private transaction.
NameJet
put a pair of names on the elite list; #14 ShoePavilion.com
($15,600) and #19 InsuranceClaim.com ($12,100). The only
other venue on the all-extension leader board is DNFolio.com
who scored with the only non .com gTLD on this week's chart -
#15 Chiropractor.net at $15,000.
Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Dec.

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

positions on our new Global Contenders Chart, taking tens
places each this week. They also split the two five-figure sales
that lead the list. You saw those in the all extension section
earlier.
The top GC sale you haven't seen yet is #3 The.org

scoring four times with a group led by #8 Ganet.org at $5,444.
