Tops DN Journal Top 20 For The Second Straight Week With Six-Figure
Sale of FixedIncome.com
by Ron Jackson
As we head down the home stretch for
2006, the domain market turned in another impressive performance
last week with every domain on our new Top 20 hitting at
least 5 figures (and there were eight more at that level that didn't make the
elite list). SnapNames.com
occupied the top spot for the second week in a row after selling FixedIncome.com
for $101,250. That was one of seven domains they put on
chart and four of those landed on the top half of the leader board.
Sedo.com
had six charted domains including
three of the top five. #2 Red.org led the way for them after
going for $50,000 in the third largest .org sale of
2006. Only University.org ($100,000) and Boats.org
($50,249) were bigger.
In case you
haven't heard, as of this writing, Sedo's U.S. staff in Boston
is working from home after a fire on Friday (Dec. 8) resulted in
their office building being closed indefinitely. A workman was
killed in the blaze that started when a transformer exploded in the
17-story building's basement, however all of Sedo's employees were
able to escape unharmed. Here are two local news accounts about this
tragic incident: CBS4Boston.com-Fatality
and CBS4Boston.com-Injuries.
Guy Rampersaud
(known on several domain forums as Predator) used Sedo to sell the
#3 domain, Thistle.com to Thistle Hotels for £20,000
($39,412). Three .orgs crashed the top ten this week and two of
those were rare 2-letter domains. Afternic.com
sold #4 WV.org for $38,000 and SnapNames sold #8 DU.org
for $28,500.
Some stragglers from the Moniker.com/T.R.A.F.F.I.C.
East live auction in October also closed this week,
including #9 StockTickers.com ($27,000) and #10
IncomeTax.net ($25,880). BuyDomains.com
was next at #11 with FastDownload.com at $25,000.
There was only one country
code domain on the new chart; #19 GoDeal.ch (Swiss country
code), sold for €8,750 ($11,619) at Sedo. Here's a look at the complete
leader board for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 10:

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high

because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both.

Global Contenders
(.biz, .info, .mobi, .net, .org & .pro)
This was a dominant week for the .orgs.
The extension took four of the top five spots on our new
Global Contenders chart and 9 positions overall. The top three
were impressive five-figure .org sales they all made the all
extension Top 20 you saw earlier.
There's was nothing wrong with .net's
outing this week either. That extension also had nine chart
entries, led by #4 IncomeTax.net, a domain that also
made the mainstream Top 20 at $25,880. .Mobi and
.info split the last two openings on the board. .Mobi
scored with #6 Agent.mobi, sold for €4,700
($6,241) at Sedo, while .info got into the act with #12 SportsBooks.info,
sold for $3,100 at SnapNames.
Here's how
all of the GC leaders stacked up for the week ending December

Country Codes
Sedo has always been exceptionally strong
in the Country Codes category, but this week they completely
ownedthem, taking every single one of the 18
entries on our top sellers chart. You've already seen the top
two domains, Dog.de and GoDeal.ch (Swiss ccTLD)
on the all extension leader board. Germany's .de wound
up with five entries on the chart but the European
Union's new .eu topped that with 8 charted domains,
including #3 Oli.eu at £2,200 ($4,335).
Great Britain's .co.uk was the only
other extension with multiple entries, scoring twice with #8 ReservationRewards.co.uk
($3,253) and #12 Bodog.co.uk. The other countries
represented this week were France (.fr) and Austria
(.at). Here's a look at the complete
