Sale
of 32.com Gives Sedo Top Spot on New DN Journal Top 20
by Ron Jackson
Overall sales numbers were softer
than usual this week, but no one is complaining at Sedo.com
after that venue took two of the top three spots on our weekly
Top 20 chart and racked up five entries overall. 32.com
led the way at an even $50,000 and Sedo also scored with #3 MasterTemplates.com
at $25,000.
Afternic.com, BuyDomains.com
and SnapNames.com
were all hot on Sedo's heels with each of those venues taking four
entries on the Big Board. Afternic claimed the #2 slot with NetMovie.com
at $31,500 and also cornered the 5th position with ParkMerced.com
at $17,750.
The BuyDomains
bandwagon got rolling with #4 WifiAccess.com at $21,200 and
they also placed EIF.com on the top half of the chart at
$15,000. The quartet that held center stage at SnapNames was led
by #14 Luckie.com at $9,100.
As usual, .com claimed the lion's
share of the chart action, taking 17 of 20 entries, with one of
those being an IDN, #20 Türkiye.com, whichsold
for $6,650 at Afternic. The other three entries went to a .US,
a .net and a .mobi, with all of those cracking the
five-figure mark. AreaCodes.us and AreaCodes.net were
among five domains tied for the #6 slot at $15,000 each,
while OnlineCasinos.mobi landed at #12 after being bid up to $10,500
in an auction at Pool.com.
Only 13 domains reached five figures this
week, but next week's chart should have a much more muscular look. Moniker.com
CEO Monte Cahn said the company expected to have all of the
transfers completed from the recent live auction at the T.R.A.F.F.I.C.
East conference within the next seven days. Once
finalized, those domains will become eligible for our charts.
The process of completing those transfers
has been bogged down by the new requirement that auth codes for .com
and .net domains be obtained from the current registrars before the
names can be moved to the new owners. As many of you have found out
the hard way, a lot of registrars were not ready to provide those
codes in a timely manner when the new ICANN rule went into
effect.
We have many more sales to tell you about,
but first let's take a look at the complete Top 20 for the week ending Sunday,

value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high

because many sales are kept private at the insistence of

Global Contenders
(.biz, .info, .mobi, .net & .org)
.Net reigned on the Global
Contenders chart again this week, taking the top spot with
AreaCodes.net at $15,000 and claiming 9 of 20
entries overall. SnapNames had more names on the GC Top 20
than any other venue, bagging seven slots overall, including
#3 CarPrices.net ($5,953) and #4 i5.net ($5,005).
.Mobi made another good showing this
week, piling up 6 charted domains including #2 OnlineCasinos.mobi
at $10,500. In another strong .mobi sale, Jeremy
Padawer bought #7 Military.mobi from Joy Antony
in a private transaction for $4,500. Meanwhile, a major
.mobi sale is headed for next week's chart. Attorney.mobi
just went for over $23,000 at Sedo but the transfer
wasn't completed before our deadline.
The same buyer who purchased AreaCodes.net put
two .infos on the chart by paying $5,000 each
for AreaCodes.info and AreaCode.info. That pair
tied for the 5th position. .Org had three entries this
week with all of those on the second half of the elite list. Here's how

Country Codes
America's country code, .US, sits on
top of the ccTLD chart this week after that $15,000
private sale of AreaCodes.us (one of the four biggest
.US sales reported this year). Another nice .US sale, Movers.us
for $5,775, was concluded at Afternic after our 7-day
reporting period ended Sunday, but that domain will be
eligible for next week's chart.
Germany's popular .de extension
won the overall numbers game with six chart entries. Great
Britain's .co.uk was the only other extension with
multiple entries, taking two, including #2 Like.co.uk
at €4,550 ($5,834).
The other extensions represented this week
were .de (Belgium), .eu (European Union) and .in
