Highest
.Info Sale Ever Reported Heads Our New Weekly Domain Sales
Chart
by Ron Jackson
In January 2004, New York.info
sold for $28,086 in what, at the time, was the largest .info
sale ever reported. This week, 32 months after the original sale,
the domain was sold again, this time for $46,392 in a
transaction handled by Moniker.com/DomainSystems.com.
So, for the second time, NewYork.info reigns as the all-time .info
champ, eclipsing Casino.info which had taken the title three
months ago after going for €28,000 ($35,127) at Sedo.com.
The sale also ranks #1 on this week's all-extension Top 20
chart.
Moniker actually
handled an even larger sale this week, a $60,300 deal for AnimeOnline.net,
however that domain is not eligible for our chart because the fully
developed website is more than just a domain. It is the home of a
long established anime forum with more than 48,000 members
(which of course adds considerable value beyond the domain name
itself). Moniker did place two other entries on the Big Board
though, including #6 DMN.com at $22,221.
This week's second biggest sale was Vintners.com,
a domain that changed hands for $44,000 in a private sale put
together by California broker Don Janke of Sunbelt
Business Sales. Sedo accounted for the next two
positions with #3 VacationRooms.com at $35,000 and #4 Words.com
at $35,000. Sedo and SnapNames.com
each placed six names on the leader board with #5 Jibs.com($22,472)
and #7 uShop.com ($20,300) leading the way for SnapNames.
Afternic.com
and the NamePros.com
domain forum also earned spots on the Top 20. Afternic did it with a
bowl of AllBran.com at $18,000 (tying the privately
sold Garage.net for the 8th spot), while NamePros scored with
one of the biggest .cc sales ever, #13 Software.cc
at $12,500. .cc is the country code for the Cocos
(Keeling) Islands. That was one of two ccTLDs on the new
list. The other was a German domain, #14 LaserBehandlung.de
("laser surgery" in German) at €9,000 ($11,410).

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both.
Sedo supplemented their six chart entries with some
solid four-figure sales including RadioPodcast.com at $7,000
and ProfileStyling.com at $6,000. SkillsMarket.com
added €4,000($5,071), while Accept360.com

Back at SnapNames, ACFilters.com fetched $6,300,
Mouthpiece.com chewed off $5,744 and FishingHats.com

Global Contenders
(.biz, .info, .net, .org & .pro)
.Info led theGlobal Contenders race
for the second week in a row, posting an easy chart win with
that massive $46,392 sale of NewYork.info that
we told you about earlier in this report. We also told you
about the #2 GC domain, Garage.net at $18,000,
but you haven't heard how .org dominated the overall
numbers game on this chart, racking up 12 of the 20 entries to
easily outdistance .net with 5. .Info placed two
domains on the list, adding #7 Oakland.info to its
chart topper. That nice geo domain went for $3,000 in a
transaction handled by Sedo. The final opening went to .pro
thanks to the $2,975 sale of Music.pro, also at
Sedo.
The .org onslaught was led by #4 Bomberos-sin-fronteras.org
("firemen without borders" in Spanish), a domain
that doused $3,705 at SnapNames. #5 Molecules.org
was right behind at $3,400, also selling at SnapNames,
a venue that swept 12 entries on the GC list to lead all
venues.

In other four-figure sales just off the
chart, SnapNames sold Jewellers.org for $1,150
and two others; FirePals.org and CenterIce.net
for $1,050 each. Afternic tapped WaterTower.org for
$1,111 and Sedo collected $1,000 for CommercialRealEstate.org.
Sedo also had three nice sales of fully
developed websites this week. Those were ProfileIcons.net,
ProfileGod.net and CuteLayouts.org, sites that
went for $6,000 each.
Country Codes
The Cocos (Keeling) Island country code,
.cc had its best week ever, thanks to a single buyer, TrustPrice.com,
sweeping up four one-word domains from a seller at the NamePros.com
forum. You already saw the top one in that quartet, Software.cc,
on our all extension leader board at $12,500. The
buyer's shopping spree also included Fund.cc at $4,000
and two more at $2,500 each; Lease.cc and Program.cc.
Great Britain's .co.uk extension also
had four chart entries this week, led by #5 RacingSeats.co.uk,
sold for €2,900 ($3,676) at Sedo, a venue that
accounted for 9 of the 14 charted domains. The European
Union's .eu was the only other ccTLD with multiple
entries, scoring with #4 HCA.eu at €3,000 ($3,803)
and #14 Nein.eu ("no" in German) at €800
($1,014). The other extensions represented this week are India's
.co.in and Canada's .ca.
Some very big news may
be brewing for America's extension, .us. A
reliable source tells us that a six-figure transaction
is underway with a $20,000 deposit having already been
paid. The balance due for the four-letter keyword is to be
paid over the next few weeks. We have not yet been able to
reach the seller to confirm the details and will not release
the domain name until we learn more (including whether or not
the transaction will be subject to a non-disclosure
agreement). If a deal is completed and the details are
released publicly, it will be the first ever reported at that
level for the .us extension.
