Crypto Domain Tops This Week's Sales Chart - ccTLDs Claim 7 Spots on the Leader Board

Cryptocurrencies, led by Bitcoin and Ethererum, are all the rage these days and the popularity of these new kinds of money has created a run on domain names related to them. Such was the case this week when CryptoNews.com claimed the top spot on our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart with a $50,310 sale at Sedo

I was away covering the inaugural NameSummit conference in New York last week so in this report I'll bring you up to date on all eligible sales reported to us over the past two weeks. As usual, most of those are .coms including #2 EnergyOutlet.com, a name that Michael Mann's DomainMarket.com sold through Sedo for $47,000. The .coms went on to sweep 15 of the 22 chart entries (the extra spots resulted from a four-way tie for the final position).

The ccTLDs also had a strong outing, filling seven places on the Big Board. #3 (tie) Human.ai led the charge for the country code domains with a $45,000 sale at Sedo. That is also the second highest ccTLD reported so far in 2017, exceeded only by the $100,320 sale of Fetch.com.au in April.

Sedo rounded out the first five with JAC.com at $45,000 and Nocks.com at $35,000 and they wound up sweeping 17 chart entries overall including nine of the top 10. The only one they missed on the top half of the leader board was the DomainHoldings.com sale of #10 CareerList.com at $18,000 for Tony Lam.

By Ron Jackson

The .com cause also got a hand from Rupii.com who sold #18 WaysBot.com for $10,264 and NameAgency.com who moved #19 (tie) RoboticAnimals.com for $10,000.

Sedo accounted for all of the ccTLD sales except one - #11 Podcasts.tv that sold for $16,000 in a private transaction. With the country code domains and .coms dominating the action the non .com gTLDs wound up getting shut out this week.

Here is how the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, August 13, 2017:
