Buyers Love 3-Letter .Coms - Lov.com Tops This Week's Sales Chart with 7 More on the Leader Board

Domain buyers have long had a love affair with 3-letter .coms. That was shown again this week when LOV.com led our latest Sales Chart with a $91,800 payday at NameJet and seven more 3-letter .coms taking places on an expanded leader board.  I was away covering the T.R.A.F.F.I.C. East conference in Miami Beach last week, so I have a double dose of data for you this time out,  including an all extension top sales chart that doubles from its usual 20 positions to 40.

Six of those 3-letter .coms landed on the top half of the elite list including #2 (tie) RSR.com, a domain that Heritage Auctions sold for $75,000. DomainGuardians.com also claimed a share of the runner-up spot with their $75,000 sale of Coin.org. That is the biggest .org sale reported so far this year and is one of the five biggest non .com gTLD sales reported in 2014.

Rounding out the first five are a pair of sales made at Flippa.com - #4 Sponsored.com at $50,200 and #5 (tie) LowCarb.com at $45,000 - and one from Sedo - #5 (tie) Pager.com at $45,000. Those three helped the .coms pile up 30 of the 40 chart entries, including one IDN - #9 Gartenmöbel.com, sold at Sedo for $25,000.

By Ron Jackson

The ccTLDs had their usual strong outing with seven chart entries, led by Sedo's $30,000 sale of #8 Angel.in (Indian country code). Two others earned spots on the top half of the Big Board. Sedo sold #12 Koffer.ch (Swiss ccTLD) for $22,278 and Eytan Elbaz banked $21,500 for Pie.co (Colombian ccTLD) in a private transaction.

That left three places for the non .com gTLDs. In addition to that big Coin.org sale, #28 6.biz brought $12,637 and 38 (tie) Joy.club added $10,000, with Sedo ringing up the latter two sales. You probably heard about another big deal in this category involving Coffee.club that we detailed in our Lowdown section Tuesday. While the transaction will end up being worth $100,000 that is being paid out over 10 years. We only chart domains that have been fully paid for and transferred to the new owners but,  as the .Club Registry's biggest transaction to date, this one is still well worth noting.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, November 2:
