High End Domain Buyers Took a Thanksgiving Break But Bargain Hunters Kept Registers Ringing in the Mid-Range

America's four-day Thanksgiving weekend cut the U.S. work week in half (except for store clerks who had to put in overtime to take care of holiday shoppers). High domain buyers were among those taking some time off and that left the door open for MediaOptions.com to take the lead position on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart with their $29,000 sale of RentByOwner.com.

While the high end paused for a breather, the mid-range of the market stayed busy with hundreds of four and five figure sales logged again this week. NameJet had some of the best of those, taking three of the top five spots on the Big Board with #2 OJR.org ($19,100), #4 HASE.com ($17,851) and #5 Clio.com ($17,200).

Sedo also reached the first five with the week's top ccTLD sale, #3 Batterie.fr at $19,040. Sedo went on to sweep 10 of the 20 chart entries, including  two more in the top ten, to lead all venues.

NameJet and NoktaDomains.com were next with each claiming four places on the elite list. #9 WoodenBlinds.co.uk led the Nokta roster at $15,000.

By Ron Jackson

Go Daddy/Afternic also earned chart honors with #6 (tie) Bitok.com at $15,000. That was one of 12 .coms on the leader board. The country codes also had a strong outing with six chart entries, including Sedo's $13,600 sale of #11 Circus.nl.

That left two spots for the non .com gTLDs with #2 OJR.org joined by #14 LTW.org, a name that Sedo sold for $12,400.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 1:

This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

The ccTLDs had an outstanding week paced by the half-dozen five-figure sales you saw on the all extension leader board earlier. That group, of course, fills the first six slots on our latest weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart with French domain Batterie.fr leading the way at $19,040.

The biggest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #7 TopSeller.de at $9,520 in a deal handled by Sedo.com. Sedo went on to pile up 13 chart entries overall including eight of the top ten. NetFleet.com.au claimed one of the two top entries that eluded Sedo's grasp, taking the #9 slot with with Wollongong.com.au at $7,965.

NameJet also did very well with ccTLDs, claiming five chart entries with a roster led by #13 (tie) OG.co.uk and UR.co.uk at $5,000 each.

Great Britain's .co.uk won the extension race with six chart entries, nipping Germany's .de's five. Mexico's .mx was the only other TLD with multiple chart entries, scoring twice. Here is how the country code leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Dec. 1:
