ccTLDs Bounce Back With the Week's Biggest Domain Sale and Six Places on the Top 20 Chart

After .coms went on a rampage, sweeping 19 of the 20 entries on our all extension Top 20 Sales Chart the previous week, the ccTLDs bounced back this past week, piling up six chart entries, including the week's biggest reported sale - Mega.co at $60,000. That is also the 5th biggest country code sale reported so far this year. RocketName.com handled the sale of Mega.co to the owners of  JustCloud.com.

Of course, the .coms did not fold their tent. They took all 15 of the remaining chart entries, leaving the non .com gTLDs empty handed for the second week in a row (there were 21 chart entries this week due to a six-way tie for the final position).

Sedo clamed the #2 spot on the leader board with BIX.com at $46,000 and they wound up having a hand in 12 charted sales to lead all venues. Sedo also accounted for the other five ccTLD sales that earned places on the elite list.

By Ron Jackson

Rounding out this week's first five are #3 Kentwood.com ($40,000), #4 ToughPad.com ($37,000) and #5 SEOBlog.com ($30,000). Kentwood.com was purchased by Peter Niederman of DenverRealEstate.com who acquired the domain from Scott Day's Digimedia.com. The name of Niederman's company is Kentwood Real Estate (a firm that Niederman said will close $2 billion in property sales this year)!

The ToughPad.com sale was handled by Go Daddy/Afternic, one of four sales they put in the top ten and they had a hand in six charted sales overall. SEOBlog.com changed hands in a private transaction. The site had been developed but the seller kept the content that will be moved to a new URL and sold the domain only.

Getting back to the ccTLD sales, two of the six were in the same extension - Brazil's .com.br. #11 Publicidade.com.br went for $17,000 and #16 (tie) EscolaDeIngles.com.br attracted $10,000.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Nov. 17:

 Country Codes

After having just one entry on the all extension leader board last week, the ccTLDs roared back with the half dozen representatives you saw at the top of this report. Those six, of course, fill the first six slots on our latest weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. The highest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #7 SizzlingHot.de, a German domain  that Sedo sold for $8,100.

Sedo, who always dominates the ccTLD action, went on to sweep 18 of the 20 chart entries including the balance of the top ten with #8 TravelCompare.co.uk ($8,050), #9 Istanbul.at ($6,750) and #10 EventHire.co.uk ($6,440).

NetFleet.com.au joined RocketName.com as the only venues to keep Sedo from running the board. NetFleet sold #15 Latitude.com.au for $4,460.

Germany's .de won the extension race with seven chart entries, followed by Great Britain's .co.uk with four. The only other TLDs with multiple chart entries were Brazil's .com.br and Laos's .la with two each.
