Select.com Tops This Week's Sales Chart With Seller Getting 1,100% Return on His Investment

Select.com has the penthouse suite on this week's all extension Top 20 Sales Chart after veteran domain investor Michael Bahlitzanakis closed a $120,000 deal for the domain in private transaction, co-brokered by DomainHoldings, that sent the name to Select Staffing

Michael originally acquired the domain for just $10,000 (DomainGang.com published a very interesting article in which Bahlitzanakis details how he got such a great deal on the domain before completing this big flip). The Select.com sale ranks among the 12 biggest deals reported so far this year.

There is a tie for the runner-up slot on this week's leader board after FashionWeeks.com and FreeBackup.com changed hands for $45,000 each. OptimoDomains.com rang up the FashionWeeks.com sale while Afternic booked the FreeBackup.com transaction.

By Ron Jackson

Rounding out the first five are #4 ZooZoo.com at $44,000 via DomainNameSales (DNS) and #5 CRME.com at $35,000 in a deal that DomainAdvisors.com completed through the DNS platform.

DomainNameSales ended up having a hand in nine of the 20 chart entries, including six of their own, two shared with DomainAdvisors and another, #8 (tie) SuperStep.com at $23,000, shared with DomainHoldings.com.

Sedo (with five) and Afternic (with four) were the only other venues with multiple chart entries. #8 (tie) iPark.com led the Sedo roster. Afternic's ledger included the week's only non .com sale. That was #14 Coatings.org at $16,000, giving the non .com gTLDs their lone chart representative.

In an unusually dominant outing, the .coms swept everything else, piling up 19 of 20 entries on the Big Board. For the first time in recent memory, the ccTLDs were left out in the cold. We normally see several five-figure country code sales each week but this time out the highest sale in the ccTLD category was Nav.co at $6,000 via Sedo.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, May 12:

Keep in mind that these are the highest value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

This was a rare off week for the ccTLDs with no five-figure sales reported in this category. That left the door open for Sedo to take the top spot on our new Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart with a $6,000 domain - Nav.co. They also nailed down the runner up slot with Pfefferminzia.de at $4,128.

DomainNameSales got into the mix with #3 FreeGrants.co.uk and Golem.eu filled the #4 slot with Flint.eu at $3,541. Rounding out the first five is #5 WineCellars.co at $3,299 via Sedo. They went on to sweep 17 of the 20 chart entries.

Germany's .de easily won the extension race with seven chart entries. The European Union's .eu was next with three while Colombia's .co and Great Britain's .co.uk each had two.
