It May Be March But January.com Tops This Week Chart After Selling for Six Figures

As any smart shopper knows, it pays to most things "off season" when they hit the discount rack. That may not apply to domain names though. January has come and gone but that didn't stop Apex Moon from raking in $107,000 for January.com to top our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. That is also one of the top ten sales reported so far this year. It looks to be yet another top drawer acquisition made by Brett Oxley as the domain now points to a sales lander on his site where many of the gems in his multi-million dollar collection are featured.

For the second week in a row, Braden Pollock at LegalBrandMarketing.com has one the week's five biggest sales. Last week he scored with Gravity.net at $38,500. This week he dialed it up a notch, adding $50,000 for #2 Satisfying.com.

Sedo filled the next two spots on the elite list, selling #3 Codi.com for domain pioneer Garry Chernoff at $40,000 and tacking on another $33,300 for # 4 Digid.com. EmpireNames.com rounded out the first five with a $20,000 sale of HomeLab.com.

.Coms swept the first six chart entries and piled up 15 of 20 places overall. However, the ccTLDs got in a nice run, taking three straight in the top ten with #7 IZI.co ($14,430), #8 Citizenship.me ($11,100) and #9 (tie) Layer.co ($10,000). Sedo rang up all three of those and also accounted for both of the non .com gTLD sales on the Big Board, moving #13 (tie) Waverley.org at $8,800 and #18 TPA.org at $6,800. Sedo wound up claiming 17 of the 20 chart entries in a banner week for them.

Country Codes

The ccTLDs were, of course, led by the trio of sales you saw on the all extension leader board above with Sedo's $14,320 sale of IZI.co setting the pace. The highest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #4 on our latest weekly Country Code Top Sales Chart. That is another Sedo sale -  Versicherungsheld.de ("insurance money" in German) at $5,550.

Sedo went on sweep 16 of the 19 chart entries with a roster that included #5 CoffeePods.co.uk at $5,107. One of the few exceptions to the Sedo rule was DomainTheory.com's $5,000 sale of #6 (tie) Roost.ai, and a pair of DomainLore.uk sales - #18 Superb.co.uk at $1,600 and #19 Freebies.uk at $1,087.

The extension race wound up in a dead heat with Germany's .de and Great Britain's .uk claiming five chart entries each (the .uk  roster included three of the .uk variety and two from the .co.uk camp). Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the week ending Sunday, March 1, 2020:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and others, including new gTLDs)

The non .com gTLDs were led by the two .org sales you saw on the all extension leader board above - Waverly.org ($8,800) and TPA.org ($6.800), both booked by Sedo.
