Chaos Reigns on This Week's Domain Sales Chart - Top Two Sales Total Nearly Half a Million Dollars

Chaos usually is not a good thing but this week is the exception to the rule. We learned that Chaos.com changed hands for $350,000 in a transaction brokered by Tony Adams at HQBrokerage.com. The domain now redirects to the home page of Chaos Software Ltd., an international computer graphics company that creates technology that helps artists and designers create photoreal imagery and animation for design, television, and feature films.

The runner-up on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart also reached six figures. That is the $140,000 sale of GPA.com handled by James Booth's BQDN.com (we also have James to thank for the tip on the Chaos.com).

.Coms swept 15 of the 20 chart entries this week with Michael Mann's DomainMarket.com accounting for seven of those .com sales (and eight charted sales overall). The DomainMarket roster included #3 Privaci.com at $49,888. That name now points to a security company operating at Security.ai.

By Ron Jackson

Sedo rounded out the first five with a trio of domains that included #4 DuoBank.com at $39,300 and two names that tied for #5 at $21,500 each - Langkawi.com and the week's biggest ccTLD sale, Sail.me. Sedo went on to pile up nine chart entries overall, including all three of the country code sales on the elite list.

The non .com gTDs have two representatives on the Big Board led by DomainMarket's $15,000 sale of #10 StarsAndStripes.org to the Stars and Stripes Team USA America's Cup yacht racing team. The other sale in that category was the .GLOBAL Registry's $8,000 sale of #19 Infinity.global.

Keep in mind that these are the highest value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

The ccTLDs were, of course, led by their three entries on the all extension leader board you saw above, led by Sedo's $21,500 sale of Sail.me. The highest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #4 on our latest weekly Country Code Top Sales Chart. That is another Sedo sale, Bewertung.ch at $5,650

Sedo, who went on to sweep 20 of the 21 chart entries (the extra spot resulted from a tie for the final position), rounded out the first five with Petitionenligne.fr at $5,500. The one place at the table that did not go to Sedo was filled by DomainLore.co.uk who sold #7 Reporter.co.uk for $4,454.

Germany's .de won the extension race with six chart entries. The next closest TLD was Switzerland's .ch with three. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the week ending Sunday, February 17, 2019:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and others, including new gTLDs)

Things were quieter on the Non .com gTLD front where only seven sales were reported. You saw the two highest ones on the all extension leader board above - StarsAndStripes.org at $15,000 and Infinity.global at $8,000.

Sedo posted four of the five other sales reported in this group, including #3 Harvest.digital at $4,585 and Hotels.pro, a name that tied for #4 with LegalBrandMarketing's sale of Star.wine as they came in at $4,000 each.
