A Half-Million Dollar .ORG Sale from Braden Pollock Rocks This Week's Top 20 Chart

It is rare to see a domain not ending in .com sell for $500,000 but it happened this week when Braden Pollock (who was profiled in a 2011 DNJournal Cover Story) of LegalBrandMarketing.com closed an eye-popping half-million dollar sale of Q.org. James Iles broke the story in a NamePros.com post Monday that included the fascinating details behind the transaction. Iles noted that Braden bought a portfolio of .org domains last year that included five rare one-letter domains along with an equally valuable numeric domain - 8.org. Q.org, by far the biggest .org sale of the year to date, is the first one Pollock has let go from that elite lot. The buyer (who has not yet been identified) had to come way up from an initial offer of $150,000 to get him to part with it.

The #2 spot on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart went to the latest six-figure sale from broker Sharjil Saleem. This time he rang the bell with a $170,000 sale of Deposit.com. That started a .com run that filled the rest of the first five and 15 of the 21 chart entries overall (the extra spot resulted from a tie for the final position). Sedo secured the #3 and #4 slots with Xiangcun.com at $82,000 and Fingerpaint.com at $75,000. Broker Chirag Chavda rounded out the quintet with 3200.com at $55,000

By Ron Jackson

Sedo piled up 13 chart entries overall, including one of the two ccTLD sales on the Big Board - #6 Forum.eu at $42,500. The other was DomainMarket.com's $9,888 sale of #14 (tie) Wheels.co. DomainMarket (Michael Mann's company) also has one of the four non .com gTLD sales on the honor roll - #14 (tie) SaveTheHumans.org at $9,888. The other charted sales from that category were both new gTLDs. GoDaddy cooked up $10,000 for #12 Chefs.online and the .GLOBAL Registry banked $8,000 for #20 (tie) CryptoCurrency.global.

Still, the lion's share of entries, as usual, went to .coms. Lumis.com helped the .com cause with their $9,000 sale of #16 (tie) BioSig.com.

Country Codes

The ccTLDs had only one five-figure sale this week that was a solid one - in fact it was one of the year's 12 best to date - as Forum.eu yielded $42,500 at Sedo. You saw that one, as well as DomainMarket's #2 country code sale of Wheels.co at $9,888, on the all extension chart above. So, the  highest sale from this group that you haven 't seen yet is the #3 name on our latest weekly Country Code Top Sales Chart - that is Sedo's $7,631 sale of Swiss domain Vorsorgesparen.ch.

Only 15 sales were reported in this category and Sedo swept 12 of those including #4 Bredband.nu at $7,524 and #5 Juliet.be at $4,446. OwnThisDomain.co.uk got two of the charted sales that didn't land in Sedo's column - MedLab.co.uk and SilverStar.co.uk, names that tied for #14 at $1,677 each.

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and others, including new gTLDs)

No doubt about who stole the non .com gTLD show this week. LegalBrandMarketing's $500,000 sale of Q.org is the second biggest sale of the year to date in this category. You saw the four biggest sales in this group on the all extension leader board above so the top sale you haven't seen yet is #5 on our latest Non .Com gTLD Top Sales Chart. That is Sedo's $7,410 sale of new gTLD Edge.network at $7,410.

As was the case with the ccTLDs, only 15 sales were reported in this category. The next highest were two that tied for #6. Sedo collected $3,500 for Bringo.net and Radix Registry drew the same amount for SPB.tech.
