2017 Domain Sales Season Closes With 2 Sales Totaling $450,000 Topping Year's Final Chart

The 2017 domain sales season closed with a string of solid sales reported over the past two weeks, even though many offices were closed for most or all of the holiday week stretching from Christmas through New Year's Day. We had no sales report last week because of that but will bring you completely up to date with this double length column covering all sales reported to us through December 31, 2017.

The year closed with a bang as we learned of a previously unreported $250,000 sale of Okey.com made through Uniregistry.com earlier this year as well as a just completed $200,000 sale of WMN.com in a private transaction made by a longtime industry veteran (who prefers to remain anonymous).

The first five on our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart was rounded out by another .com, a ccTLD and a non .com gTLD, giving fans of each category some extra holiday cheer. Foundation Domains filled the #3 slot with CryptoRate.com after selling that domain for $99,888 through a GoDaddy Premium Sales listing. The year's 3rd biggest ccTLD sale followed with DomainBrothers.com teaming up with eMall.ca to sell Loans.ca for $88,000 (USD) in 2017's biggest Canadian country code domain sale. Completing the quintet at the top was Sedo's $70,000 sale of App.net - a deal that also ranks as one of the year's five biggest non .com gTLD sales.

With the latest sales data in our annual Year to Date Top 100 Charts have now been completed. You can check those out to see what the year's biggest sales were in three separate categories - an all extension listing, another chart for the Top 100 ccTLD sales and a third for the Top 100 non .com gTLD sales.

The .coms wound up sweeping 18 of the 20 positions on our final 2017 weekly chart, including NameJet's $52,000 sale of #6 Protege.com. With the release of all of their top sales for the month of December this week they went on to pile up 10 chart entries overall.

Here is how the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, December 31, 2017:

This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both.
