3-Digit Numeric .Com Changes Hands for $327,000 to Top This Week's Domain Sales Chart

No doubt about the king of the domain sales hill this week. James Booth's BQDN.com closed a blockbuster $327,000 sale of 708.com to lay claim to the top spot on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. That is also one of the 10 biggest sales reported so far this year and the 3rd highest numeric domain sale of 2017 (topped only by 01.com at $1,820,000 in February and 20.com at $1,750,000 in April).

Sedo took the next two spots on the elite list with Medically.com at $53,000 and PayEther.com at $45,000. They went on to sweep 13 of the 20 chart entries (including #9 Wawel.com - a domain sold by Bart Sadowski at Bluberries Advertising). Those sales helped the .coms claim 10 spots overall. DNBX.com also contributed to the .com cause with #15 BLCP.com at $15,000.

BuyDomainsNames.co.uk nailed down the #4 spot with the week's biggest ccTLD sale - Massage.co.uk at $36,180. Two more solid country code sales at Sedo followed - #5 Experience.tv at $35,000 and Shein.de at $33,345. All three of those rank among the 10 biggest country code sales reported so far this year (the YTD ccTLD Top 100 Chart is the second chart on the page linked to).

By Ron Jackson

In an outstanding week for the category, the country codes piled up eight chart entries overall with Sedo accounting for all but two of those (Massage.co.uk and #11 (tie) D8.tv, a name that changed hands for $15,000 in a private transaction).

The other two spots on the Big Board went to the Non .com gTLDs thanks to the .Global Registry's sales of #17 (tie) Jade.global and Retail.global at $8,000 each

Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

As I noted above, it was a banner week for the ccTLDs led by eight 5-figure sales, three of which rank among the year's top ten in this category. You saw all of those 5-figure sales, led by Massage.co.uk at $36,180, in the all extension section above, so the highest sales in this group that you haven't seen yet are a pair of names tied for #9 on our latest weekly ccTLD Top 20 Sales Chart. Those are CatchTiger's $5,850 sale of Kijkenvergelijk.nl and Sedo's sale of Safe.pt at the same price.

Sedo went on to sweep 16 of the 20 chart entries. They kicked off the second half of the leader board with #11 Symbiosis.pl at $5,000. DomainLore.co.uk had one of the four sales that eluded Sedo's grasp, moving #20 AirportTaxi.co.uk at $2,050.

Germany's .de won the extension race with six chart entries followed by Great Britain's .co.uk with three. Here is how the country code leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and others, including new gTLDs)

The non .com gTLDs put a pair of domains on the all extension leader board you saw earlier (both .global new gTLDs) but no names in this category reached five figures this week. Were it not for a spate of .global sales only six transactions would have been reported for the entire group. Two of those exceptions - both .orgs - tied for the 3rd spot in our latest Non. com gTLD Top Sales Chart. Sedo sold HousingMarket.org and StaySafe.org at $5,000 apiece

A nine-way tie for #5 followed - a logjam comprised entirely of .global domains that sold for $4,800 each. One of the few exceptions to .global's rule was the $1,416 sale of #17 Transfer.travel by Isaac Paton Nicolau at PixelDreams.es.

The extension race was no contest of course as .global piled 11 of the 17 reported sales. Here is how the non .com gTLD leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 24, 2017:
