BabyGames.com Banks $250,000 to Top This Week's Domain Sales Chart

I was away covering THE Domain Conference in Fort Lauderdale, Florida last week so we have some catching up to do this week. This column will bring you up to date on all sales reported to us since our last report September 7. Our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart has a clear leader after NoktaDomains sold BabyGames.com for a whopping $250,000 - one of the 15 biggest sales reported so far this year

A second domain just missed six figures. That was Spices.com, a name that Mark Thomas's VIP Brokerage sold for a cool $95,000. Sedo filled the #3 slot with one of those perennially popular 3-letter.coms - WLF.com at $35,000.

Rounding out the first five were the week's biggest non .com sale - #4 Business.global, a new gTLD domain that the .Global Registry sold for $25,000 and #5 SocialShop.com, sold By NoktaDomains for $22,940.

.Coms swept 19 of the 24 chart entries (the extra spots resulting from a five-way tie for the final position) with a roster than included Nokta's $20,000 sale of #6 HomeCard.com.

By Ron Jackson

The ccTLDs claimed three spots led by Sedo's $19,900 sale of #7 Preis24.ch and a MagnumDomains.com sale of #9 AirSpace.co at $18,000

The remaining spots went to non .com gTLDs - both .global new gTLD domains - with #19 LK.global at $12,000 joining that #4 sale of Business.global on the Big Board.

That dominating .com barrage was aided by DomainMarket's $18,000 sale of #9 (tie) TripBeat.com, a name that owner Michael Mann said he purchased for just $80 in July 2012. AbdulBasit.com added a $12,500 sale of #17 Enkla.com and SnapNames.com accounted for another with #18 118888.com going for $12,140.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, September 18, 2016:

Keep in mind that these are the highest value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
