George Kirikos Uncovers Another Huge Sale That Ranks Among the Year's Top Ten

By relentlessly digging through corporate SEC filings George Kirikos has uncovered so many previously unreported major sales I lost count long ago. Suffice it to say that our annual Top 100 Charts would look a lot different without the spadework he's done. George did it again this week while looking through a report filed by Wave Systems Corp (WSC) who had gone into bankruptcy. WSC owned the top tier domain name, Wave.com, that was quietly auctioned off by the court, bringing $420,000 - a number George confirmed through an April order made by the bankruptcy court.

That makes Wave.com the biggest sale, by far, reported this week as well as 8th biggest sale reported so far this year. George believes the price would have been considerably higher if the auction had been more widely publicized and I agree with him on that.

There are a lot of companies that would benefit mightily from the name. Kirikos noted that in his city alone, Toronto, there is a company named Wave that has 1.7 million customers in more than 200 countries and it's a firm that has also raised $20 million in funding - more than enough to nail down what would have been an invaluable asset for them. Instead the domain is now owned by New York City based Chime Inc. who is using it to run a money transfer service.

The next highest sale on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart went to Michael Mann's DomainMarket.com where he sold GodOfIsrael.com for $24,888. DomainMarket also sold #19 (tie) TheGodOfIsrael.com to the same buyer for $6,000.

Sedo filled the next six positions in a row, starting with #3 Slither.com at $22,600. They followed with  the week's biggest non .com gTLD sale, #4 Santa.org at $13,500. Sedo's run also included the week's biggest ccTLD sale, #6 TimeShares.ca at $11,800.

There were three more country code sales on the Big Board, all posted by Sedo, including another one in the top ten - #8 4U.de at $11,187. The non .com gTLDs had two more entries (in addition  to Santa.org) - #10 Equals.net ($8,800 at Sedo) and #12 Diamonds.club ($8,246 at GoDaddy).

The .coms scored their latest win with 13 of the 20 charted sales. Scott Alliy's Allied Internet Solutions helped the .com cause with #9 EventIndustryNews.com at $9,000, as did SnapNames with their $7,750 sale of #14 Sunil.com.

The non .com gTLDs were led by the three sales your saw on the all extension leader board earlier, with Santa.org setting the pace at $13,500. Those are Sedo's $5,000 sale of HotDeals.net and Domainora.com's sale of Pages.pro at the same price.

GoDaddy wound up with the most chart entries - eight in all - thanks to a nice group of .club premium domain sales including two that tied for #7 at $4,123 each - Care.club and Trip.club. Sedo also had an excellent outing with seven charted sales.

With the .CLUB Registry releasing all of their July premium sales this week, .club easily won the race with 11 charted sales. Here is how the non .com gTLD sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, August 21, 2016:
