Lack of Large Sales Produced a Diverse Chart This Week with 11 Non .Coms on the Leader Board

The past week was one of the quietest we have seen in the domain  aftermarket thus far this year. Maybe buyers had to divert funds to income tax bills that were due Monday (a side effect of the unexpected sales boom produced by frenzied Chinese buying late last year). It looks like it will be a brief break though. In the latest sale at Heritage Auctions yesterday (April 19) bidders sent two domains (Quick.com and Blaze.com) over $250,000. When they close they will both rank among the year's five biggest sales to date (assuming even larger ones don't close before then). We are also in the process of verifying some sizeable new gTLD auction sales - at least some of which are likely to be charted next week.

This week our all extension Top 20 Sales Chart is led by the only reported transaction above $20,000. That was Sedo's sale of FirstSport.com at $24,480. Flippa claimed the runner-up slot with AspenColorado.com at $16,751

In a rare occurrence the .coms took less than half of  the chart entries. There were 21 spots due to a 3-way tie for the final position with the .coms taking 10 of those.  The ccTLDs claimed five places with #3 Weinladen.de leading that group with a $16,385 sale at Sedo. The non .com gTLDs did them one better, piling up six entries including two new gTLDs that rounded out the first five - #4 Reputation.management ($15,000 at Sedo) and #5 Light.house (sold by WebQuest for $14,888).

One of those non .com gTLD entries was also an IDN - #17 尼康.世界 ("Nikon.world in Chinese) at $6,800 via Sedo. They went on to win the extension race with a dozen chart entries, including #6 Prosecco.net at $14,125. Three other venues also rang up multiple chart sales with Flippa logging four and two each going to WebQuest Inc. and SnapNames

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, April 17, 2016:
