$140,000 Wine.club Sale Closes - New gTLDs Take Top Two Spots on This Week's Sales Chart

We got a change of pace this week with something  other than 3-letter .coms setting the pace on our latest domain sales chart. Oh, the LLL .coms are still here (two more reached the top ten this week) and they aren't likely to be going away any time soon - but, for the first time, multiple new gTLDs enter the conversation about chart topping domains.

Back in January it was reported that the .CLUB Registry had worked out a deal to sell Wine.club for $140,000, however the domain had remained in escrow ever since (most likely due to a payment plan being in effect). Well, .CLUB confirmed that deal finally closed this week with the name being transferred to an Australian domain brokerage company - Houghton Richards - who often acquires names on behalf of corporate buyers. So, the name may be moved on to a  final end user in the near future.

The sale firmly ensconced a new gTLD in the lead position on our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart - and the runner-up spot went to one as well. In that one, Uniregistry sold Pro.flowers to FTD, one of the giants in the floral space, for $50,000

By Ron Jackson

Were it not for a non disclosure agreement it looks like a third new gTLD would have ranked among the top three. Britain's Adam Freeman was able to show us documentation from Escrow.com detailing his $90,000 sale of a .money domain but he was unable to say what the name was, so it cannot be charted. So, instead of a third new gTLD, yet another 3-letter .com sale landed among the first three. That was NKB.com, a domain that Sedo sold for $31,000. They put another one - VTY.com - in the #7 slot with a $22,000 price tag.

The first five was rounded out by the $30,495 sale of #4 FOYR.com, handled jointly by  eNaming.com  and IndusDomains.com, and Sedo's sale of #5 Tires.ae at $25,425 in the week's biggest ccTLD sale. Sedo put four more country code domains on the second half of the elite list.

In addition to the two biggest sales, the usually downtrodden non .com gTLDs also scored with #8 Dami.net ($20,340 at Sedo) giving them yet another reason to celebrate a week in which Wine.club tied 95.net for #1 on the Year to Date Non .Com Top 100 Sales Chart (3rd chart on the page linked to).

This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Country Codes

The ccTLDs returned to normal this week logging five five-figure sales after posting only one at that level over the previous two weeks. You saw all five of those on the all extension leader board above so the biggest sales in this category that you haven't seen yet are a pair of names that tied for #6 on our latest Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. Those are Cobalt.io and Sommarlov.se at $5,000 each via Sedo.

Sedo went on to sweep all 21 chart entries (the extra spot resulting from a tie for the final position) with a roster that also included #8 FoodService.de at $4,370.

Germany's .de won the extension race with four chart entries. No other TLD had more than two. Here is how the country code leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, June 14:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org, .biz, .info & others, including new gTLDs)

After booking three of 2015's top 10 sales in this category last week, the Non .Com gTLDs enjoyed another strong outing led by a pair of names that now rank among the year's top five sales - Wine.club at $140,000 and Pro.flowers for $20,340. The #3 sale on this week's Non .com gTLD Top 20 Chart - Dami.net at $20,340 - also ranks among the year's 15 best sales in this group.

Sedo rounded out the first five with Service.bike at $5,650 and Commerce.asia at $5,000. They went on to sweep 19 of the 22 chart entries (the extra spots resulting from a tie for the final spot). One of the few that eluded Sedo's grasp was #9 (tie) Good.pro, a domain that Andrew Campbell sold for $3,390 in a private transaction.

The .nets easily won the extension race,, taking 10 of the 22 chart entries. Here's how all of the Non .Com gTLD leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, June 14:
