Sedo Domain Takes a Shine to Top Spot on This Week's Sales Chart After Changing Hands for $95,000

After the flood of domain sales we had over the past two weeks (especially last week) the market was due for a little bit of a breather this week and we got it. While no six-figure sales were reported this  time out Sedo came extremely close with Shein.com, a name that tops our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sale Chart after changing hands for $95,000. That was the start of a romp for Sedo who swept 19 of the 20 chart entries as some of the other major venues that report at less frequent intervals (like DomainNamesSales.com and monthly repotrer NameJet.com) were off after big releases of data last week.

Sedo followed Shein.com with the week's biggest ccTLD sale (and one of the year to date's 10 biggest in this category) Whitstable.co.uk at $18,480. They rounded out the first five with #3 FirePro.com at $15,000 and a trio of names that tied for #4 at $12,000 each - Dabba.com, Renovest.com and Upcycling.com

By Ron Jackson

Golem.eu was the only venue to break Sedo's stranglehold on the leader board. They scored with #18 (tie) Scenic.eu at $5,649. In another good week for the country codes that was one of eight ccTLDs on the elite list, including another top ten entry for Sedo in #9 BAO.tv at $9,200

The .coms took all of the other chart entries leaving the non .com gTLDs out in the cold as they have been so many times this year (other than last week when they got a sales transfusion from DomainNamesSales's release of seven months worth of sales at once).

Now here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 15:

Country Codes

The ccTLDs were, of course, led by the eight entries you saw on the all extension leader board above with Whitstable.co.uk leading the way at $18,480. The biggest sale in this group that you haven't seen yet is #9 on our latest weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. That is Alexia.fr, a name that Sedo sold for $5,085. They rounded out the top ten with Eroe.it at $3,389

As they did on the all extension chart, Sedo took every spot on the ccTLD list except one - a tie for the #7 slot that Golem.eu got with Scenic.eu at $5,649. Sedo kicked off the second ten with Repay.me at $3,350 and never looked back.

Thanks to a four-way tie for the final position there were 23 chart entries this week. Germany's .de easily won the extension race with seven of those followed by Tuvalu's .tv with three. Here is how the country code leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 15:

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org, .biz, .info & others, including new gTLDs)

Things were quiet on the non .com gTLD front this week. The few sales that were reported all came in well under $5,000. Augenlidstraffung.net was able to claim the #1 slot on our latest Non .com gTLD Top Sales Chart with a $4,351 sale at Sedo. As they did with the two charts above, Sedo made it three for three in taking every chart entry but one on this list as well.

Sedo filled out the first five with 3E.net ($3,000), Razer.net ($2,813), Reiki.center ($2,211) and Ombuds.net ($2,147). All told, only 12 sales were reported for the entire category. GenericDomainMarket.com claimed the one spot Sedo missed with #11 TheGate.net at $1,099.

The .nets won the extension race with six chart entries, followed by .org with three. Here's how all of the Non .Com gTLD leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 15:
