Pair of Six-Figure Sales Give 2014 a Good Sendoff and Get 2015 Started on a High Note 

I hope you all had a wonderful holiday season as we did here in Florida. Now its on to 2015 and what I think will be a big year for the domain aftermarket. First things first though - we have some 2014 business still to wrap up. Due to the holiday break (and the resulting office closures at some of our leading sales data providers) we have three weeks worth of information this week that will bring you fully up to date on all of the sales reported since our last column December 17.

A pair of six-figure sales provided the latest highlights with MostWantedDomains.com getting the new year off to a great start with their $800,000 sale of 345.com and Flippa.com closing the books on 2014 with their $120,000 sale of Rides.com. 

Sedo backed up those blockbusters with a pair of big country code sales - TV.ae at $95,000 and Wohnung.de at $87,320. Industry pioneer Garry Chernoff rounded out the first five, selling Montrose.com for $75,000 in a private transaction.

Diversity continued at the top of the chart with Chad Wright selling a nice geodomain in #6 Encinitas.com at $48,000 and Nidoma.com moved another solid ccTLD in #7 Dieta.it at $46,303. 

The IDN's got into the act too with Sedo selling #8 Schlüsseldienst.de for $41,300. A pair of .coms completed the top ten. KuwaitNET collected $37,400 for #9 Alqabas.com and NameJet notched $35,200 with Problem.com.  That Alqabas.com sale represented an upgrade for the buyer - one of Kuwait's largest newspapers - who has been operating from a ccTLD - Alqabas.com.kw. 

There were many other notable sales this week, including a pair of charted acquisitions made by Colorado's Peter Niederman. He picked up #11 FortCollins.com for $35,000 in a private transaction - a name that will fit in nicely with two others he already owns - Denver.com and Boulder.com. Peter also used DomainHoldings to help him acquire #23 (tie) NewMedia.com for $18,000.

There were six more five-figure sales just off the chart with each of those coming in at $10,000. DomainsNext.com sold 0969.com and 9396.com, while Sedo moved Kayak.eu, AstroSolar.com and ColoradoPersonalInjuryLawyer.com and NameJet sold ZHO.com.

.Com Supporting Cast

There was also a strong four-figure .com supporting cast including Sedo's sales of NoComment.com ($9,999), QDE.com ($9,900) and Viewability.com ($9,875). MobileInsurance.com made $8,607 while GeekBeat.com and M101.com kicked in $8,500 apiece.

A1Free.com added $8,260, TrendyHair.com clipped $8,259 and Interphone.com dialed up $8,000. Airbilet.com brought $7,906 and two others - GlobalMoney.com and Stellarex.com - returned $7,500 each.

Elsewhere, DomainsNext.com reeled in $7,800 for S36.com, Nidoma.com booked $3,965 for Portachiavi.com and Voove.com picked up $2,000 for XURE.com. 

Also at Flippa.com, RealEstateForeclosures.com found $7,500, Minorities.com made $5,000 and Youman.com managed $4,000. Butterscups.com banked $3,506, MobileDrones.com delivered $2,875 and DroneVideo.com zoomed in on $2,650. ScubaTank.com surfaced with another $2,500. 

Country Codes

The ccTLDs went out with a bang in 2014, piling up eight five-figure sales (all listed in the all extension section you saw earlier) - a pack led by one of this category's 15 biggest sales of the year - TV.ae at $95,000 via Sedo. The biggest sale in this group that you haven't seen yet is #9 on our expanded  Country Code Top 40 Sales Chart. That is Koop.nu, a domain that Sedo sold for $9,440. Sedo also rounded out the top ten with Coating.de at $8,260. 

Sedo went on to pile up 25 of the 40 chart entries. Nidoma.com also had a nice outing with a half-dozen chart entries including #14 Borsette.it at $6,490 and #15 Buonosconto.it at $5,517.

Germany's .de and Italy's .it tied for first in the extension race with seven chart entries each. Here is how the country code leaders stacked up for the three weeks ending Sunday, January 4:
