Rob Grant Closes Six-Figure Sale of TorontoRealEstate.com to Top This Week's Sales Chart

Rob Grant (who was profiled in our April 2008 Cover Story) has the world's best portfolio of geo-targeted .com real estate domains. Rob collected the latest dividend from his vast collection today (Sept. 17, 2014) when he closed a $140,000 sale of TorontoRealEstate.com that he has been working on for the past four months.

Grant told us the Canada based buyer had also purchased OttawaRealEstate.com from him earlier this year. He added that to the best of his knowledge (and he is in a position to know) the TorontoRealEstate.com sale is the highest made to date for a geo-targeted real estate domain, easily  topping HamptonsRealEstate.com which was sold for $100,000.

That sale easily took the top spot on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart, eclipsing the next highest sale by over $100,000. AlanAdlari.com claimed the runner-up position with Kiralikaraba.com at $37,500, one of four sales they placed on the Big Board.

By Ron Jackson

Sedo took the next four spots on the elite list and swept 13 of the 20 chart entries overall.  #3 Kiel.com led their roster at $25,350, followed by one of the highest new gTLD sales we've seen to date, #4 Baltic.cruises at $25,000. A second non .com gTLD made the chart with AlanAdlari selling #12 (tie) Muhabbet.net for $12,000

The ccTLDs turned in their usual solid performance, piling up six chart entries including four of the top ten sales. The largest of those was #7 HR.tv, sold at Sedo for $16,298, and #8 BusinessFinance.com.au, moved for $16,261 at NetFleet.com.au

The .coms ran the rest of the table, taking 12 positions overall. Flippa.com contributed to the .com charge with #14 FileBackup.com at $11,300.

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org, .biz, .info & others, including new gTLDs)

Two of the week's three biggest non .com gTLD sales were new gTLDs with #1 Baltic.cruises booking $25,000 at Sedo and #3 Fire.glass lighting up $5,000 at Flippa.com. Sandwiched in between at #2 on this week's Non .Com gTLD Top Sales Chart is Muhabbet.net at $12,000 via AlanAdlari.com. A third new gTLD reached the top ten with #7 Boot.club bagging $3,750 at Sedo.

The #4 spot went to Guta.com who sold JIU.net in a deal that illustrated how helpful it can be to have a broker who is multi-lingual. When Guta.com owner George Hong (who speaks Chinese) saw a friend had put JIU.net up for sale he alerted the owner to the fact the name was not just a random 3-letter acronym. Jiu is also a Pinyin word that can mean wine, nine or forever in Chinese. George even found a Chinese buyer for the seller, securing a price that was about triple the amount of an average 3-letter .net.

The .nets easily won the extension race with 11 chart entries, followed by the .orgs with three and  .Club with two,
