Big Sale of Digital.com Tops This Week's Sales Chart - .DE Domains & 3-Letter .Coms also Soar

When Heritage Auctions ran their latest premium domain auction on July 24th, the biggest bid went to Digital.com. Today that $373,750 sale became official when the transfer of the domain was completed. The buyer was Richard Kershaw's Quality Nonsense Ltd. (the parent company of webmaster tool WhoIsHostingThis.com). That gives Richard (who was featured in an in-depth video interview at DomainSherpa.com in May) one of the top 20 sales reported so far this year (#16 to be exact) as well as the #1 position on out latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart.

The new two spots in the Big Board went to a couple of impressive German ccTLD sales at Sedo. #2 Musik.de drummed up a whopping $128,999 while #3 Apps.de delivered $64,499. Yet another .de sale, #6 Analytics.de at $19,479 (also via Sedo), gave the world's most popular country code extension three of the week's six biggest sales.

By Ron Jackson

A pair of .coms round out the first five - #4 LAM.com (at $61,920) and #5 Decoded.com (at $50,000). That LAM.com sale is one of four 3-letter .coms on the elite list, with three of those reaching the top ten as this always popular category continued to flex its muscles. Last week an astounding nine 3-letter .coms dominated the all extension leader board.

All told the .coms claimed 12 of the 20 chart entries. The ccTLDs were also very strong with seven charted sales, four of those being .de domains, including an IDN - #13 Selbständigkeit.de at $9,211.

The non .com gTLDs were limited to one entry. That one hit the top half of the board with #7 KQ.net notching $13,500.

With Go Daddy/Afternic still in the quiet period surrounding Go Daddy's IPO, Sedo dominated the reported sales list, taking all but two of the chart entries. The exceptions were Digital.com and #20 BusinessHub.co.uk that was sold for $5,900 at DomainAftermarket..co.uk
