George Hong also uncovered the week's
second biggest sale, 0060.com at the equivalent of $120,848,
with another Chinese educational company, 360 Education Group, making
the purchase in another private transaction that company Chairman Luo
Cheng announced on Weibo.com.
Why so much for those numbers? 60 is the international
telephone code for Malaysia so when people from around the world
dial a Malaysian number they always start with 0060. The 360
Group said
they plan to build an educational portal for Chinese students who
want to study overseas in Malaysia.
The rest on the first five on our latest
all extension Top 20 Sales Chart featured two more .coms
- #3 WebMeeting.com, sold for $40,000 in a private
transaction, and #5 Copella.com at $20,000 via Sedo.
Sandwiched in between those two was the week's biggest country
code sale - #4 Dental.ca at $22,600. DomainNames.ca
used Sedo's platform to move that Canadian ccTLD. Sedo put one more
country code domain on the Big Board, #13 Apuestas.cl ("bets"
in Spanish) at
$10,275.
The non .com gTLDs were limited to
one chart entry - #18 ILN.org at $9,800 through Go
Daddy/Afternic.
Everything else (17 of the 20 charted domains overall) went
to .coms. Here is how all of the sales leaders
stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Feb. 23:
