Trio of Six-Figure Sales Totaling Over $1.3 Million Headline a Fabulous Fortnight for the Domain Market 

I was away covering the inaugural NamesCon conference last week in Las Vegas, so we have a lot of ground to cover this time out. I'll be bringing you completely up to date on all of the sales reported since our last column two weeks ago and to make room for the double dose of data we are expanding all of our usual Top 20 charts to 40 positions each this week. 

While NamesCon was enjoying a very successful debut, the domain aftermarket was also basking in good times, led by a trio of impressive six-figure sales. Teamwork.com set the pace after being sold to an Irish software company for a whopping $675,000. 

In another impressive sale, a public company in China bought Game.cn (Chinese ccTLD) for a cool $512,307 (at today's exchange rate on the RMB 3,098,000 sales price) in an auction of previously reserved names held by CNNIC (administrator of the .CN Registry). A special thanks to my friend George Hong of Guta.com who sifted through some Chinese language documentation to help me verify that sale had been completed at the reported price.

By the way, George was also able to shed some light on the widely reported $11.7 million sale of China.com that came out this week.  As I suspected that was not a domain only sale (the article linked to above also confused several other sales of developed website businesses, like Insurance.com and VacationRentals.com, with sales of domain names only - those are completely different animals). 

After researching original reporting in China on the China.com sale Hong said, "The buyer and the seller are both controlled by state-run media companies. It seems that China.com, HongKong.com and the portal business were all part of the sale." Hong added that strong competition from Sina.com, Sohu.com and other Chinese news portals made China.com's portal increasingly irrelevant. George noted, "The site has been losing money for a while and the purchase was more politically driven than financially driven."

I also want to give a shout out to another George -  George Kirikos -  who sent me some very useful information on sales reported while I was away so I could look into those and add them to this week's report.

Now. getting back to the hit parade, yet another six-figure sale took the #3 slot on our expanded all extension Top 40 Sales Chart. That was LGG.com, a domain that changed hands for $175,000 in a private transaction. Sedo almost hit the six-figure mark too as they banked $98,000 for #4 JCT.com. Go Daddy/Afternic rounded out the first five with Crafting.com at $51,500.

Sedo wound up sweeping 24 of the 40 chart entries while .com dominated the extension race, taking 27 places on the elite list. The ccTLDs also had a very strong outing with 10 charted sales while the non .com gTLDs wound up with three (the latter group being led by #14 LLC.biz at $23,520).

.Com Supporting Cast

Go Daddy/Afternic led the .com supporting cast of four-figure sales with PartQuest.com at $9,500. TapCash.com collected $8,000, Medicinas.com dispensed $7,100 and OnlineBoutiques.com attracted $7,000.

247Web.com went for $6,900, BrainTumors.com brought $6,600 and Winns.com drew $6,551. Five others - ConstructionApp.com, LostDeals.com, ShoeCase.com, SourceWater.com and WakeboardTower.com - took in $6,500 apiece.  

Go Daddy/Afternic had 187 more four-figure .com sales ranging from $2,000 to $6,000 that are listed in the table below:

At CheapYellowPages.com Cubicon.com captured $9,000, DiscoveryDays.com found $6,000, ReisLaw.om landed $5,000 and Vaiden.com cornered $3,000. 

Back at Sedo Rigex.com returned $8,300, MyCornerStore.com stocked $8,000 and Suntility.com sold for $7,000. PlasticSheets.com covered $6,900 while Lusu.com and Palmerston.com posted $6,749 each. 

DigiGo.com generated $6,250 while four others - BrandPartner.com, HempFarming.com, InvestArt.com and SpringLife.com - clicked for $6,000 apiece. PhotoResizer.com added another $5,800. 

Sedo had 89 more four-figure .com sales ranging from $2,000 to $5,400 that are listed in the table below:

Sedo also teamed up with Go Daddy/Afternic to sell JiveCloud.com ($3,650), Lineamedica.com ($2,700), M-Theory.com ($2,200), Innovateurs.com ($2,000) and TheRaleigh.com ($2,000).

Country Codes

There were several additional four-figure sales off the chart. Go Daddy/Afternic collected $1,500 apiece for AFF.org, Clovi.org, EpicLife.org, Hangm.org and ReclaimUSA.org.  UBB.net nailed $1,499, CarParkingGames.org entertained $1,475 and ConnectedHome.net plugged in $1,388.

PlayPumps.org plucked $1,225, CellTek.net tallied $1,223 and two others, FlowersOnline.org and Pawork.org paid $1,200 each. Evolve.info drew $1,188, AboutWeb.org unwrapped $1,106 and BInternational.net booked $1,096. BigBadWolf.net scared up $1,088, Digir.net dispatched $1,025 and three others - 1Diamond.net, BigHeartBrands.net and SouthChamber.org chalked up $1,000 apiece. 

Back at Sedo the hit list included four names that came in at $1,500 each - EGH.net, FamilyLegacy.net, PlasticEnergy.net and TopReviews.org. PersianRugs.org covered $1,450 while Bergsteigen.org and Klamm.net claimed $1,350 apiece. 

Prenotazioni.net provided $1,349, Feed.biz dished out $1,300 and ElectricMotors.net generated $1,250. BetaWorld.net blanketed $1,249, SexVideos.mobi managed $1,160 and WikiRoute.org led to $1,100. HempFood.info harvested $1,088, Basquiat.org buttoned up $1,013 and two others - AlcoholTreatment.net and RackSpace.mobi reaped $1,000 each.
