Hot Week for Domain Sales Led By the Year's 3rd Biggest Sale (an $850,000 Deal) & Two Others at a Half Million Each

Summer may be over but 2013 domain sales were hotter than ever this past week when three of the year's top ten sales were reported. One of those ranks among 2013's top three  while two others reached the half million dollar mark to take their own places on the upper tenth of our Year-to-Date Top 100 Sales Chart

The headliner was Hot.com, a domain that Moniker/SnapNames moved for a cool $850,000 - a figure exceeded only by the two 7-figure sales reported earlier this year (IG.com at $4.7 million and 114.com at $2.1 million).

Also making a big splash were a pair of $500,000 sales, each of which were made in private transactions. One of those involved Finances.com and the other Housing.com. Yet another six-figure sale hit this week's leader board courtesy of Sedo who sold Moneta.com for $150,000

By Ron Jackson

GoDaddyAuctions rounded out the first five on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart with Emancipated.com at $30,000 (a name they sold on behalf of MostWantedDomains). GoDaddyAuctions went on to pile up eight chart entries overall. Sedo was next with places on the Big Board, including the week's biggest non .com gTLD sale, #6 LT.org at $26,000. One other sale from that category qualified for the elite list - Go Daddy's $18,540 sale of #13 DMM.net

The ccTLDs were limited to one chart entry this week - Sedo's $20,237 sale of  #9 DailyDeals.de

The .coms vacuumed up everything else - sweeping 17 of the 20 charted sales overall, with Moniker/SnapNames ringing up three of those. Chart honors also went to Morgan Linton's Linton Investments who brokered the $20,000 sale of #10 (tie) OneMonth.com.

Data from one major venue, Afternic, came in after our deadline for the weekly report (Tuesday evenings at 6pm U.S. Eastern time), sot we will include those numbers in next week's report.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 29:

Keep in mind that these are the highest value cash only sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both.
