Breathalyzer.com Breaks into the Year's Top 10 Sales - ccTLDs & Non .com gTLDs Also Land New YTD Top 10 Entries

The past week was a good one for domain sales as we saw a six-figure .com sale that ranks among the 10 biggest transactions reported so far this year, along with one of 2013's 10 biggest ccTLD sales and one its 10 best non .com gTLD sales.

The headliner was the $115,000 sale of Breathalyzer.com reported by Sedo, whose Senior Broker Dave Evanson teamed up with   DomainHoldings Broker Steve Smith to get the deal done.

Sedo also handled the week's biggest  (and one the year's top 10) country code sales, banking €25,000 ($33,000) for Saubillig.de
("dirt cheap" in German). That sale ranks 4th on this week's all extension Top 20 Sales Chart

Afternic accounted for the non .com gTLD headliner - Follow.net at $20,000. In addition to being one of that category's top ten sales of the year it ranks at #7 (tie) on our latest weekly all extension Top 20.

By Ron Jackson

While all of that makes it look like the wealth was spread around this week, the .coms still wound up sweeping 16 of the 21 chart entries (the extra spot resulted from a tie for the final position). The usual dominant .com outing was helped by Sedo's $52,800 sale of #2 IronDoors.com, the $35,000 sale of #3 TabulaRasa.com by Zenchi.net and, Afternic's $25,000 sale of #5 ExtremeFitness.com.

Sedo wound up with a hand in 16 charted sales including two top ten entries involving domains they sold for MostWantedDomains.comCheapRiverCruises.com and GuardRail.com at $20,000 each, putting those two in a tie for #7. MostWantedDomains (owned by well-known blogger Michael Berkens) also sold #12 LosSuenos.com on their own for $15,000

Afternic also did very well, hitting the trifecta with a trio rounded out by #16 InSales.com at $12,000.

The ccTLDs wound up with three names on the elite list - al handled by Sedo. In addition to Saubillig.de they sold #10 Bark.co for $19,532 and #15 Tierarzt.ch (Swiss country code) for $12,936. The non .com gTLDs had two entries with Follow.net joined by #18 IDV.org, sold by Sedo for $10,560.

In addition to all of these sales, George Kirikos let us know about a six-figure transaction that he uncovered in a new filing by Eventure Interactive Inc. In it the company revealed it purchased Eventure.com at the end of 2012 for $60,000 in cash plus stock valued at $43,750, making the deal worth $103,750. We chart only all-cash sales but the size of this transaction makes it well worth putting on the record (thanks to George for the information).

We may soon be able to report an even bigger deal - this one all cash. MD.org went for $555,555 in a NameJet auction last week. If and when the name is paid for and transferred to the new owner it would become the year's biggest sale to date (as of this writing there has been no change to the WhoIs record).

Now back to the business at hand. Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, April 14:

Country Codes

The trio of five-figure country code sales you saw in the all extension section above set the pace for the ccTLDs this week, filling the first three spots on our Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. The biggest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is Sedo's $7,854 sale of #4 MegaParty.de. FPI.ca rounded out the first five after changing hands for $7,035 at ExcellentDomains.ca

The latter sale was the only one that prevented Sedo from running the board. They wound up sweeping 20 of the 21 chart entries (the extra spot resulted from a tie for the final position). Sedo's roster included eight German .de domains including #6 Bunt.de at $6,995 and #7 VBB.de at $5,807

Following .de in the extension race was  Great Britain's co.uk with four chart entries. Only two other TLDs took multiple positions - Colombia's .co and the European Union's .eu with two each.

Here is how the country code leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, April 14:
