Aftermarket Crowns a New 2012 Heavyweight Champion With $2.45
Million Sale
Sales at the ultra high end of the
domain market have been rare this year. Until this past week, only PersonalLoans.com
had breached the 7-figure barrier - and just barely, changing hands
for an even $1 million last February through DomainNameSales.com.
No publicly reported sale since then had approached that figure
until Investing.com broke the drought with a $2.45 million
haymaker this week to take over #1 position on our Year
to Date Top 100 Sales Chart. ForexPros.com acquired the
domain in a private
transaction and immediately launched a global financial
portal on the premier domain.
Sedo
took the next two spots on this week's all extension Top 20 Sales
Chart with EndGame.com at $80,000 and Latest.com
at $28,624. They went on to pile up 11 of the 21 chart
entries (the extra position resulted from a tie for the final rung
on the ladder) including #5 Xuexi.com at $20,000. The
.coms wound up sweeping 17 places on the Big Board.

The week's top ccTLD sale also reached the first five. DomainNameCompany.co.uk
sold #4 Fetch.co.uk for £17,500 ( $28,175). Sedo put
a second country code domain in the top ten with #6 K1.de changing
hands on their platform for €12,000 ( $15,720).
Two non .com gTLDs also made the elite list, led by Afternic's$13,580 sale of #8 CTH.org. Sedo also scored in this
category with #11 Stromrechner.net at €9,100 ( $11,921).
Afternic rang up seven chart entries overall with a roster led by #7
MobilePress.com at $15,000.

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.
Sedo led the .com supporting cast of
four-figure sale with Jack3D.com ($7,800), VanFun.com
