Twin
100K Sales at Sedo Spearhead Another Strong Week for Domains
The domain aftermarket's November
rally continued this week, led by a pair $100,000 sales at Sedo
and 31 others that reached five figures at various venues
across the industry. Sedo's six-figure pacesetters were LAHotels.com
and Paste.com (the latter domain being brokered by Sedo
veterans Dave Evanson and Jay Finnan).
Sedo went on to sweep six of the top seven
sales in a run that was interrupted only by Flippa.com's
$60,000 sale of #3 Salinas.com. Sedo answered with the
week's biggest country code sale, #4 Find.se (Swedish
ccTLD) at $50,800. They also booked the week's top non
.com gTLD sale with #6 CY.org at $30,000.
En route to piling up 12 of the 20 chart
entries overall, Sedo also shared the #8 slot with PrescriptionSunglasses.com
at $20,000. Two other venues matched that price; Moniker/SnapNames
with ScotlandTours.com and DomainNameSales.com
with Werbeagentur.com.

Moniker/SnapNames and DomainNamesSales
(DNS) wound up taking three spots each on the Big Board. DNS added
#12 (tie) ClosedLoop.com at $18,000 and #17 (tie) Nyka.com
at $14,000 while Moniker/SnapNames continued their roll with
#17 (tie) LC.ca (Canadian ccTLD) at $14,000 and #19 WashProfile.org
at $13,600.
NetFleet.com.au
also earned chart honors with their $16,069 sale of #14 CarAuctions.com.au
(Australian ccTLD). That was one of four country code domains
on the elite list. The non .com gTLDs had three
representatives, leaving the .coms to once again dominate with 13
charted sales.

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.
There were 13 more five-figure sales just off
the chart, led by HappyInc.com, a domain sold for $12,795
