Sumptuous Meal for MostWantedDomains - $150,000 Tab For  RestaurantSupply.com Gives Them Top Spot on This Week's Chart

The domain aftermarket enjoyed a very solid week led by a pair of six-figure sales and 43 other transactions that reached five figures. RestaurantSupply.com sits in the top spot on our new all extension Top 20 Sales Chart after being sold for $150,000 by Michael Berkens's MostWantedDomains.com. Michael told me he had acquired the domain for just $22,500 in 2008 and had already earned most of that money back through parking revenues.

The #2 domain was just $1,650 behind. It is also happened to be the 2nd biggest country code sale reported so far this year. That was Buy.me, a domain that changed hands for €115,000 ($148,350) at Sedo. That is the only ccTLD on the Big Board this week as the .coms swept 18 of the 20 chart entries, including #3 HormoneReplacementTherapy.com at $42,000 via DomainNameSales and #4 Camster.com at $40,999 through the AfternicDLS.

By Ron Jackson

The AfternicDLS also accounted for the other non .com sale - #5 House.net at $40,000. They also took the next two spots with GPSTracking.com and HerbalZone.com at $30,000 each, giving them four of the top seven sales.

GoDaddyAuctions had a hand in five charted sales, led by #8 (tie) IOOI.com, a name they sold on the DomainNameSales platform for $25,000. Sedo also rang up multiple sales, scoring six times.

Chart honors also went to WJM.com's Bill McClure who acquired #8 (tie) USAFlorist.com for $25,000 and to NoktaDomains for their $18,000 sale of #15 (tie) IndirimKuponu.com.

There were so many solid five-figure sales we could have filled up two Top 20 charts with them this week and still had some left over! Here is how the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 30:

Keep in mind that these are the highest value sales that have been reported to us in the past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.

For the many newcomers entering the domain industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market. If you do not understand why specific domain names command the prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases. We highly recommend that you do some basic research before you buy anything! As a starting point we have built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

Country Codes

The ccTLDs had something to celebrate this week with that blockbuster sale of Buy.me at $148,350 through Sedo. The only country code sale reported this year that was bigger than that one was Saturn.pl at $189,930 back in February. That sale and the three five-figure ccTLD sales you saw in the all extension section above fill the first four slots on our new weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart.

The biggest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #5 RealDeal.ch at $9,030 via Sedo. They went on to sweep 16 of the 20 chart entries, NoktaDomains was one of the few able to slip through Sedo's defenses, scoring with #6 BridgeLoans.co.za at $8,900. The AfternicDLS also took a spot in the top ten with #8 Frog.me at $6,880

Chart honors also went to NetFleet.com.au for #13 SelfManagedSuperannuation.com.au at $6,426 and to DropWizard for #17 Leads.ca at $5,000.

Germany's .de won the extension race with five chart entries followed by Montenegro's .me with three. In a remarkably diverse week, no other TLDs had multiple chart entries. 12 different extensions divided up the 12 remaining spots.

Here is how the ccTLD leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, Sept. 30:

As always, we welcome all verifiable sales reports from companies, private sellers or individuals with knowledge of an important sale made through any channel. To contribute information and help make this column better,  just drop a note to [email protected].

We truly appreciate the industry leading companies who share their sales information with us to help everyone in the business get a handle on current domain values. Richard Meyer of Domain Sales Center also provides invaluable help in collecting data for these sales reports each week.

Every Wednesday we publish the highest reported domain name sales for the previous week. On Mondays and Tuesdays our contributors send us their sales data for the previous 7 days. We then compile that information and write this article to give you the most comprehensive sales report in the industry.

Editor's Note: If you wish to review previous Domain Sales columns, they are available in our Archive.
