Wright Banks
$90,000 for Tracy.com to Top This Week's Domain Sales Chart
.Coms enjoyed a banner week sweeping
all but one entry on our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart.
Chad Wright of Webquest Inc. led the .com charge with
his $90,000 sale of Tracy.com.
The only non .com domain on the Big
Board was a big one. Cruises.co claimed the #2 spot
after changing hands for $82,500 in a private transaction.
The owners of Cruises.co.uk bought the domain as a global
brand to complement their British ccTLD. According to a splash page
on Cruises.co, they will launch a new site there on October 1.
Frank Schilling'sDomainNameSales
swept the next three spots on the leader board with #3 VisaBulletin.com
at $50,000 and a pair of names; Behaviour.com and ChinaFair.com, that tied for #4 at $30,000 each.
DomainNameSales wound
up having a hand in seven charted sales, more than any other venue.
They shared one of those with GoDaddyAuctions
who used the DNS platform to sell #10 (tie) SafetyGloves.com
at $22,000.
By
Ron Jackson
Sedo
and the AfternicDLS
also had solid outings. Sedo put five domains on the elite list led
by #4 (tie) eCapital.com at $30,000. The AfternicDLS
chalked up four chart entries with a roster led by #12 GarageDoorRepairs.com
at $21,250.
Two other venues also earned chart honors;
MostWantedDomains
for their $15,000 sale of #15 (tie) 4Gee.com at $15,000
and WinnerNames.com
for their $13,500 sale of #20 MobileFutures.com.

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.

Country Codes
TheccTLDs had just one five-figure

reported so far this year. That $82,500 sale of Cruises.co
ranks #7 on our Year to Date

entries overall while the .orgs finished with eight. The
