Two
ccTLD Sales That Rank Among the Year's Ten Biggest in That Category
Stand Out on This Week's Chart
It was a good week for the ccTLDs
as three country code domains landed on the upper half of this
week's all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. Two of those also
rank among the ten biggest ccTLD sales reported so
far this year. Online-Casino.de (a German country
code domain) was the week's biggest sale in any extension, changing
hands for $144,900 at Sedo.
That is also the second biggest ccTLD sale reported this year,
trailing only Saturn.pl, a domain that sold in February for $189,930.
The country codes landed another big blow
with Gruppenreisen.de ("group travel" in German) at $74,970,
also through Sedo. That ranks #3 on this week's Big Board and is the
8th biggest ccTLD sale year to date. The third country code domain
on the top half of the leader board is #10 Message.me at $25,200
via Sedo.
Sandwiched between the country code
heavyweights at the top is #2 ConferenceCalling.com, a name
that went for $80,000 at the AfternicDLS.
They also rang up $65,000 for #4 VertigoEntertainment.com
and went on to pile up eight chart entries overall.

Only Sedo took more chart positions, sweeping ten places with a
roster than included #5 Gamble.net at $45,125. That is
also one of the ten biggest non .com gTLD sales reported so
far this year. One other domain from that category, also a .net,
earned a spot on the elite list. #17 Regis.net went for $14,000,
also through Sedo.
Two other venues won chart honors this
week - Optimo.com
for their $30,000 sale of #9 FashionDays.com along
with GoDaddyAuctions
and DomainNameSales.com
who teamed up to move #12 Madigan.com for $22,000.

Keep in mind that these are the highest
value sales that have been reported to us in the
past week. This column is meant to be an educational tool,
not a complete list documenting ALL high
value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce
because many sales are kept private at the insistence of
buyers, sellers or both. Our procedure for verifying the
accuracy of domain sales reports is available here.
Forthe many newcomers entering the domain
industry we also want to point out that the reasons why a domain name sells for a certain price can be varied and are not always clear to those who are unfamiliar with the domain market.
If you do not understand why specific domain names command the
prices they do, you are likely to make unwise domain registrations or purchases.
We highly recommend that you do some basic research beforeyou buyanything! As a starting point we have
built a sister site specifically for you at NameNewbie.com.
There were eight more five-figure sales just
off the chart led by NameJet's

sale with NetChange.com, as did DomainNameSales with AirSickness.com.

Country Codes
With two of the week's three biggest sales
the country codes had plenty to celebrate this week including
two more sales in the five-figure range. All of those were noted in
the all extension section above. The biggest sales in this category
that you haven't seen yet are three domains tied for #5 on this
week's Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. Those are Belleza.es,
Heimscheisser.de and Home24.ru at $6,300
each.
Sedo had a big week sweeping 19 of the 20 chart
entries. The only one that eluded their grasp was #14 PPIRefunds.co.uk,
a name that was sold in a private transaction for $4,190.
Germany's
.de led the
TLD race with seven chart entries followed by Great Britain's .co.uk
with four. The only other extension with multiple chart
entries was France's .fr with two. The remaining seven positions
were divided between
seven different extensions.
