Another Pair of Big .Com Sales Totaling $642,000 Take Top Spots on This Week's Sales Chart

For the second week in a row a pair of six-figure .com sales ran away from the rest of the pack to claim the top spots on our weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. Last week it was MK.com ($700,000) and Avoid.com ($117,500). This week Kush.com and Virus.com commanded the spotlight. Kush.com was the big kahuna, changing hands for $500,000 in a sale put together by - who else - Sedo Senior Broker Dave Evanson. Dave has been on fire this fall. Just 3 weeks ago he had another chart topper with User.com at $150,000. His Kush.com sale now ranks among the 12 biggest sales reported so far this year.

There is also an interesting story around this week's #2 sale. Veteran domain investor Markus Schnermann (who was profiled in a moving May 2009 DN Journal Cover Story) acquired Virus.com from Oliver Hoger for $142,000. However, that was just part of a buying spree that brought Markus three more domains that are on this week's Top 20, including #3 Grillen.de ("grilling" in German), purchased through Sedo for $47,869. Markus also acquired #5 WC.de for $33,060 and #12 TD.de for $11,400, with both of those coming from Sedo's GreatDomains auction.

By Ron Jackson

Lumis.com rounded out this week's first five with #4 Aphelion.com at $45,000 - the first of two top 10 scores for them as they picked up another $20,000 for #7 USME.com. Those sales helped the .coms pile up 15 of the 20 chart entries.

Vinodr.in also helped the .com cause by using Sedo to sell #13 (tie) ThriveLabs.com for $11,000. Sedo went on to sweep 16 chart entries overall. That would have been 17 but one name on their list was a 2017 sale that was just made public this week - Trainings.com at $30,000 (when sales a year or more older come to light those are added to the year of sale's Top 100 Chart in our Archive, if they are high enough to qualify). Sedo's haul this week included all three of the ccTLDs that made the Big Board and one of the two non .com gTLDs that crashed the party - #17 Spiritual.life at $9,750. The other one, sold by the .GLOBAL Registry, was, like Spiritual.life, also a new gTLD - #18 Community.global at $8,000.

Country Codes

The ccTLDs were, of course, led by that trio of country code sales you saw on the all extension leader board above with Grillen.de leading the parade at $47,869. The biggest sale in this group that you haven't seen yet is #4 on our latest weekly Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. Like the top three domains, that one was also a German .de domain sold via Sedo - 88.de at $6,384

Dynadot rounded out the first five with #5 YZY.tv at $6,200. That was one of three chart entries for them. They also scored with #10 734.cc at $4,023 and #14 0999.cc at $3,101.

Still, Sedo enjoyed their usual dominance of the ccTLD world sweeping 14 of the 20 chart entries. The other exceptions were #8 Factory.tv, sold for $4,500 in a private transaction, #9 CGS.co.uk, sold by SpotOnDomain.com for $4,416 and #13 Yacht.uk, sold by DomainLore.co.uk for $3,200.

Germany's .de scored an easy win in the TLD race, piling up seven chart entries. No other TLD had more than two. Here is how the top ccTLD sales stacked up for the week ending Sunday, November 18, 2018:
