A $90,000 .Com and the Year's Biggest .Net Sale to Date Top This Week's Domain Sales Chart

If you like a variety of domain extensions, you will like the leaders on our latest weekly all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. As is usually the case, a .com sits at the top of the elite list and another is at #3, but they had to share the spotlight with the year's biggest .net sale to date and one of the five biggest new gTLD sales we've seen so far in 2018 (this one coming from the .online stable).

Michael Mann's DomainMarket.com grabbed the top rung on the ladder with their $90,000 sale of DollarCity.com - a name that Mann said he purchased for just $2,000 in 2007. The buyer was a Central & South American ecommerce platform operator that shelled out the 90K to upgrade from their current domain - DollarCity.net.

Close behind was a blockbuster numeric .net sale brokered by Sharjil Saleem. He moved #2 08.net for $87,000, setting a new standard for publicly reported .net sales in 2018. Sharjil is no stranger to high end sales. He told us about another one in which payments are currently being made on a $900,000 package deal for Client.com and Clients.com. Those will be eligible for charting once the final installment has been paid.

By Ron Jackson

Sedo filled out the first four with #3 Looka.com at $65,000 and that eye popping new gTLD sale in which #4 Design.online changed hands for $57,000. Sedo went on to sweep 14 of the 20 chart entries overall.

NameJet, who reported all of their September sales this week, took four spots on the Big Board with #5 Hainei.com leading their roster at $22,501. They also rang up a couple of 3-letter .com sales with #7 IEZ.com at $16,600 and #1 VJU.com at $13,500.

While there was variety at the top of the chart, the .coms pulled away down the stretch to pile up 15 of the 20 chart entries overall. The non .com gTLDS took four spots with two of those going to .orgs - #10 RHC.org at $14,500 via Sedo and #18 BZIP.org at $9,700 through NameJet. That left just one position for the ccTLDs that went to Sedo's $9,099 sale of #19 Lynx.co

Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both.
