.Org Takes Top Spot on This Week's Sales Chart - ccTLDs Take 2nd and 6 Spots Overall

This was one of those rare weeks when .coms didn't take the majority of positions on our all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. They did take more places than any other group - nine in all - but the other 11 went to non .coms - six of those being ccTLDs and five non .com gTLDs (one of which was a new gTLD).

It was an especially good week for the .orgs as they took the top spot on the elite list and put two others in the top ten. Michael Mann's DomainMarket had the chart-topper, banking $75,000 for RiseUp.org, in a deal brokered by Uniregistry Market. That is also the biggest non .com sale reported so far this year. Sedo put two more .orgs on the top half of the leader board - #4 (tie) BeStrong.org at $15,000 and #10 (tie) Cocca.org at $10,800.  Sedo also accounted for the other two charted non .com gTLD sales, including the new gTLD representative - #20 VideoSlots.casino at $7,500.

In addition, Sedo booked all six of the charted ccTLD sales en route to sweeping 16 of 20 entries overall. They put Caps.co.uk in the runner-up slot at $18,750 and two others in the top ten - #8 HC.tv at $12,750 and #10 (tie) Dimagrire.it at €10,000 ($10,800). The latter domain was one of four Sedo sales tied at #10, including MYIV.com, a name they sold to end user IVWatch.com on behalf of seller MAJ.com

By Ron Jackson

Michael Mann has always been a vocal proponent of .com over any other extension and while he put a .org in the top spot this week he also helped the .com cause by putting three names from his favorite extension on the Big Board - two of which tied for #4 - PropertyPhotos.com and SinAlientio.com at $15,000 each. Mann told me he had hand registered the latter domain in 2012 for $7!

Now on to this week's Big Board. Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, March 19, 2017:
