HotBot.com Banks $155,000 to Top This Week's Domain Sales Chart - .Coms Sweep All But Two Entries

It's not unusual for .coms to dominate our weekly domain sales chart but they don't usually do it to the extent they did this week when they swept 20 of 22 entries on our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart (the extra spots resulted from a three-way tie for the final position).

We normally see 12-14 .coms on the elite list with ccTLDs and non .com gTLDs taking the half-dozen or so slots that remain. This time out, the .coms, led by Sedo's sale of #1 Hotbot.com at $155,000, ran the table on the first half of the leader board and didn't let up until a new gTLD, Celebration.church, broke through for the non .coms by claiming the 17th spot with an $18,000 sale, also made at Sedo. One ccTLD also earned a place in the spotlight with Park.io selling #20 (tie) Mine.io for $15,000.

Sedo teamed up with Michael Mann's DomainMarket to fill the runner-up slot with PersonalPlanner.com at $43,000. Mann said he originally acquired that some for just $900 in 2008. NameJet, who reported all of their September sales this week, took the next two spots with a pair of 3-letter .coms - #3 NTR.com at $39,000 and #4 EIQ.com at $30,200 (three more 3-letter.coms landed on the second half of the chart).

By Ron Jackson

DomainMarket completed the first five with CareYourWay.com at $24,888 (another eye popping investment for Michael Mann who said he hand registered that one for $8 in 2010). Short numeric domains proved their ongoing popularity with a trio of four-digit domains landing on the Big Board. The biggest of those were 0301.com and 0302.com, a pair of names tied for #6 that DomainsNext.com sold for $24,888 apiece

SnapNames also had a good outing this week with a pair of names on the top half of the leader board. They sold #8 Prado.com for $24,165 and their brokerage unit moved Lendus.com for $21,250.

Here is how all of the sales leaders stacked up for the week ending Sunday, October 2, 2016:

This column is meant to be an educational tool, not a complete list documenting ALL high value domain sales. Such a list is impossible to produce because many sales are kept private at the insistence of buyers, sellers or both.
