The Week's Two Biggest Domain Sales Were .Nets With a ccTLD Third - .Coms Still Take 13 of Top 20

The past week was an unusual one in the domain aftermarket. .Coms traditionally rule the roost but the biggest .com sale reported week could do no better than 4th on our latest all extension Top 20 Sales Chart. The often downtrodden .nets finally had their day, scoring the two biggest sales with Career.net earning $85,000 and Coffee.net downing $55,000. Sedo booked both of those sales and went on to sweep the first five and 14 of 20 places overall.

The third spot went to a German ccTLD, Sparstrumpf.de
("savings" in German) at a cool $53,312. That was one of three country code domains to crash the Big Board. The others were #13 (tie) Ducks.tv at $12,500 in a sale made by Synergy Media and #18 Mondo.eu at $11,199 via Golem.eu

The .coms landed their first punch with #4 TaiwanTrade.com at $51,765 and NDH.com rounded out the first five at $38,000.

Two more non .com gTLD made the elite list. URLs.net sold #6 Aid.org for $30,000 - a name that is about as perfect a match as you will ever see with the non-profit oriented .org extension. DotcomPortal.com also scored with a new gTLD - #11 Coffee.coffee at $14,.500.

Though they got off to a late start, the .coms finally shifted into high gear and piled up 13 chart entries overall. SnapNames aided their onslaught  with #10 Agario.com at $16,615 and Joe Alagna (of 101Domain.com fame) also pitched in by picking up $12,500 for TheWirelessMarket.com in a private transaction.

Country Codes

The ccTLDs were led by those three five five-figure sales you saw on the all extension Top 20 above, with Sparstrumpf.de setting the pace at at $53,312. The biggest sale in this category that you haven't seen yet is #4 on our latest Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. That is Londres.fr, a French country code domain that went for $8,400 at Sedo. Flippa's $7,500 sale of DNS.io rounded out the first five.

Sedo took four of the next five spots with a group that included About.eu and ZZZ.cc at $5,600 each. Sedo also swept the entire second ten, giving them 17 of 21 positions overall (the extra spot resulting from a tie for the final position).

The second half of the leader board was comprised entirely of .VC domains that went for $4,000 each. .VC is the seldom seen country code extension for Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. That 11-name logjam gave the TLD an easy win in the extension race.
