First
Domain Sales Chart of the New Year Led By a 7-Figure Sale and
3 More in 6 Figures
...and they're
off! The 2023 domain sales season is now underway
and there is some good news coming out of the gate. We already
knew Above.com's
$3 million sale of Help.com would be gracing our
new all-extension Top 20 Chart as we broke that
news in a Lowdown
post last week. Only three sales in 2022 were higher
than that, so Help.com is also very likely to top our first
2023 YTD Top 100 Chart when it comes out the evening of February
1 (since this week's Top 20 Chart is the first one of the
new year it is also the current YTD Top Sales Chart). The
final Top 100 Charts for 2022 will remain on our YTD
Sales Charts page until Feb. 1 when the 2022 list
will move (but remain permanently available) in our Domain
Sales Archive.
The
Help.com sale was back up by three solid six-figure
sales at Sedo,
led by a $275,000 sale of SkyWin.com. That
represented a remarkable return on investment for the seller
who had picked up the domain for
just $2,118 in a 2019 NameJet auction! Sedo
booked another €100,000 ($108,000) for TopFX.eu,
the highest ccTLD sale reported and one that was bigger
than all but four of the country code sales reported in 2022.
Sedo rounded out the big money quartet at the top with #4
Nevis.com at $100,000.
Sister
sites NameJet
and SnapNames
just released their December sales today (Jan. 18). We chart
sales when they are first reported (as long as they have
occurred within the trailing 12 months) and their list
included a trio of Top 20 Sales led by #11 JVZ.com for $14,601
at SnapNames. .Coms swept 13 of the 20 chart entries
with Greg Everett's $15,000 sale of #9 (tie) SYAI.com
via Uniregistry
also helping the .com cause.
The
ccTLDs kicked off 2023 the same way they ended 2022, with
a steady flow of solid sales. Five country code domains
claimed places on the Big Board with that big $108,000 sale of
TopFX.eu getting top ten back up from #8 UTrace.de at €15,000
($16,200) via Sedo.
The non
.com gTLDs wound up with two spots on the honor roll -
Sedo's $27,500 sale of #5 CasinoApps.net and a $12,701
sale of AmericanPainSociety.org at NameJet.
One
other note before we go to the charts. With this report we
will return to our usual bi-weekly release schedule
with a new report coming out every other Wednesday evening.
So, I'll be back here February 1 with the next update as well
as the unveiling of our first 2023 YTD Top Sales Chart.

cash only sales that have been reported to us in the

a complete list documenting ALL high value domain

The ccTLDs started
the year on a high note with that $108,000 sale of TopFX.eu
at Sedo that ranked among the three biggest sales reported in
the first half of January, regardless of category. The first five in
this group all made the all-extension leader board above so the
biggest sale from this group that you haven't seen yet is the #6
domain on our latest Country Code Top 20 Sales Chart. That is a
$9,720 sale of Pagina.de at Sedo.
NameJet filled the
next spot with #7 Psy.co at $9,090. They scored a second
time with #17 Diginfo.tv at $4,215. Sedo swept
everything else including a trio that completed the top ten led by #8 CBD-Shop.fr
at $8,910.
The TLD race wound up in a
dead heat between .de and .ai with each taking four
places on the chart. It was a remarkably diverse fortnight with
13 different TLDs represented on the leader board! Here is how the top
ccTLD sales stacked up for the two weeks ending Sunday, Jan.

Sedo had 20
more four-figure sales off the chart led by
Supermarkets.gr at $3,888 and two others, MC-Media.de
and QRCode.nlat $3,780 each. FlowOn.de
delivered $3,239, followed by BoostPerformance.de
and FairBooks.de at $3,235 apiece. Termin.at
tacked on $3,229, EcoBuilding.de drew $3,213
and Vacine.tv tuned in $3,000.
Also at Sedo, WealthPlan.us
laid out $2,998, Tyre.co rolled up $2,997 and
Corey.cocollected $2,995. A trio
including Kollagen.ch, MU-Vorbereitung-Online.de
and Power24.de - produced $2,700 each. Airahome.de
hauled in $2,592, Enkelgerecht.de added $2,313
and LE101.fr dialed up $2,267. Mesoestetic.lt
and Wanderarbeit.de completed the Sedo roster at $2,160
apiece.
At DomainLore.co.uk,
PayYourWay.org.uk produced £2,600 ($3,198) and Flydsaarena.co.uk
cleared £2,600 ($3,198).

Non .com gTLDs
The Non .Com gTLDs
returned a couple of domains to the five-figure column this
time out after being shut out at that level last time around the track
(to be fair that was the last two weeks of December when domain sales
slowed down just about everywhere). Our latest Non .Com gTLD Top 20
Sales Chart is led by Sedo's sale of CasinoApps.net
at $27,500 and a $12,701 sale of
AmericanPainSociety.org at NameJet.
Sedo claimed the rest of the
first five with a trio led by #3 FWT.org at $9,800.
NameJet stepped backed up to the plate at #6 with Wizard.org at
$6,318. NameJet took a third spot and sister site SnapNames
added two of their own. Everything else went to Sedo including a nice
$8,500 sale of #8 DatingApps.net.
By the way, that $2,150
sale of #20 Sex.xyz at Sedo is not a typo. Turns
out the domain was dropped after one year because is has a $13,000
annual renewal fee. So the new buyer obviously had
to take that into account before pulling the trigger on what
looks - on the surface - to be a great bargain.
.Org scored an easy
win in the TLD race by piling up 12 chart entries. .Net
was next with six. Here is how the
non .com gTLD leaders stacked up for the two weeks
