After
beginning the new year with a bang (Rick Schwartz's
$850,000 sale of GoBet.com two weeks ago),
things settled back into the solid five-figure range
over the past fortnight. Our latest all extension
Top 20 Sales Chart is led by a trip of names that all hit the
$75,000 or better mark. Sedo's
£55,000 ($75,350) sale of FaceYoga.com is king
of the hill, followed by a pair of names that hit the 75K mark
right on the button - Speechify.com, a domain that Tony
Lam sold via the Uniregistry
Market, and ccTLD Dabble.com.au in a sale
that Vortel Advanced Systems made though GoDaddy's
brokerage service. Two more Sedo sales round out the first
five - HolyGround.com at $60,000 and another
ccTLD, Flow.me, at €48,000 ($58,080).
|
|
.Coms swept 15 of the 20 chart
entries, the non.com gTLDs claimed three places and the country
code domains took the two spots in the top five I just
mentioned. That non .com gTLD trio was comprised of a pair or .orgs
and a new gTLD. Sedo accounted for all three sales, booking €30,000
($36,300) for EditPad.org, $25,000 for #14 (tie) NMF.org
and €15,000 ($18,150) for Möbel.shop (an IDN). Everything
else went to the .coms, including Shane Kinsch's $50,000 sale
of #6 Litebit.com. NameJet
played the biggest role in the .com dominance, putting seven of them
on the honor roll with #9 Huodong.com leading their list at $35,001.
With their mix of all TLDs, Sedo still wound up with the most chart
entries overall, filling ten places on the leader board.

By the way, since we now have our second
report of the new year in the books, we have just started our 2021
Year-to-Date Sales Charts (the first chart covers all
extensions, the second lists the year's top ccTLD sales and third has
the top Non .com gTLDs). We begin with the top 20 on each chart and
continually add to them as each bi-weekly report comes in. They will
grow until we cap them at 100 entries each. Our final Top
100 for 2020 is now in our Domain
Sales Archive.
Now, here's how
all of the sales leaders stacked up for the two weeks
ending Sunday, January 17, 2020:

Country Codes
The ccTLDs continue
to enjoy a good start to the new year. In addition to posting two of
the five biggest sales, regardless of category, they had two more in
five figures. The country codes were led by that big $75,000
sale of Dabble.com.au you saw at the top of the report, with
solid support from a $58,080 sale of Flow.me. The first
five on our latest Country Code Top 20 Sales
Chart is rounded out by Sedo's $14,500 sale of #3 Roots.co,
an $11,465 sale of Clear.in at DaaZ.com
and another Sedo sale, #5 Finch.io, at $9,680.
DomainTheory.com also gave
the ccTLDs a boost with his $9,400 sale of Moxie.io.
Sedo, as they almost always do, accounted for the bulk of the country
code sales though, piling up 16 of the 21 chart entries (the extra
spot resulted from a tie for the final position). Sedo's roster
included a $9,075 sale of APX.vc.

Non .com gTLDs (.net, .org and
others, including new gTLDs)
The non .com gTLDs also
performed well, with eight five-figure sales reported, led by Sedo's
sales of EditPad.org at $36,300 and NMF.org
at $25,000. It was an extraordinarily good week for the
.orgs who swept seven of the first eight spots on our latest Non.Com gTLD Top 20 Sales
Chart. The only exception in that opening octet was Sedo's $18,150
sale of #3 Möbel.shop.
The .org domination
continued on the second half of the chart as they went on pile up 13
of the 20 chart entries overall. Sedo account for eight of those with Web.com
sister sites SnapNames and NameJet adding four more,
including the $16,505 sale of #4 LearnNC.org at
SnapNames.
.CLUB also had a very
good outing, putting four domains on the elite list, including three
in the top ten - NYC.club at $8,000 plus On.club
and Soul.club at $7,000 apiece. GoDaddy accounted
for all four of the charted .CLUB sales.
